[ the Doctor sounds a bit... well, shell-shocked, today. and slightly out of breath, as if he'd just run into his ship from the outside and got her into the air before immediately switching the mike on. ]

Right. Well, all things considered, that could've gone worse.

[ raising his voice a little, he announces: ] Bit of advice for you all: if you ever happen to be caught in a tight spot with an Oruplasmian, whatever you do, don't let her try and solve the problem by swallowing it. You think you've seen bad indigestion in whatever your species is, let me tell you, you haven't seen anything until you've had to tangle with the Oruplasmian digestive system.

[ beat. ]

Oh, and while I'm here, has anyone else noticed that Kirei Kotomine and Goldilocks's world has been locked off? Someone might want to look into that, just a thought. Any other time the community's restricted access to a world, it's never been good.

[ another beat, a longer one, this time. ]

Oh, and all those dealing with a virused friend over the next few days, remember to stay in touch. The personality switching ones can be a bit on the hairy side.

Got to say, it was kind of hard to tell the difference, what with how egotistical my buddy is normally.

Well, I hope he doesn't end up sounding too insufferable. I suppose you could always invest in earplugs for the next few days.

Or I could find something to distract him. He likes bugs, so maybe get him a pet?

Genius, eh? That's a bold thing to say, but anyone who claims to be an engineer and a genius is a friend of mine. What is it you usually engineer with that giant brain of yours, Jin?

Robotics has been my specialty since high school. Giant robots, human-size robots, robots that only go up to about your waist. Programming too, if only because if you're putting together the body, you've got to make a mind to go with it.

That's a pretty impressive job, as far as jobs go, I like it. What do you do with all these robots?

Well, they were originally supposed to help mine for enetron--a major fuel source in my world. But ever since a nasty computer virus got out and built armies of robotic machines to try to take over our world, we've had to change tactics to giant robot battles once a week in downtown.

Robotic machines trying to take over the world? Sounds like one of my Saturdays. Must keep you and everyone working to stop it more than busy enough, though, are you all managing alright over there?

Eh, can't complain too much. Things are going pretty well, actually. Just need to watch how much enetron I'm using in Hyperspace, so I don't tip off the bad guys where I am.

On some sort of mission, are we?

No, more like stuck.

Ah. That's a bit less good... how'd that end up happening?

And it going wrong is probably what saved my life. The chief of our research station had to convert the entire building and everyone in it into data and transport it into Hyperspace to prevent a self-aware computer virus from escaping into public networks. During the data conversion process, something screwed up and fragments of my data went in one direction, and the rest with the others', right into the server containing said virus. The part that was safe at least included my genius brain, so I could put together J and this avatar, but I had to put myself in stasis ever since to try to keep my data together. I've been trying to avoid explaining right now why I haven't just teleported myself out. Don't really want to deal with everyone's reaction when they hear I'd probably just break apart into data and scatter all over the place.

[ he lets out a long breath. ] Blimey... you do lead an interesting life, don't you? Do you need a hand trying to sort that one out? I'm a dab hand with computers myself even if I do say so myself, and well, to be totally honest with you, I've been in a similar situation before. Might not be able to do too much without knowing the ins and outs of wherever you're stuck, but I could see if there's anything I could do.

For now, I could use some stabilization. Damage to the avatar risks damage to my body and...well, scattering. J's programmed to pick up on the signature of the rest of my data, but until then, I need to make sure I'm not going to fall apart.

Right, gotcha. Tell you what, give me a few minutes to get changed and get all this alien gunk off me so I don't mess up my equipment, and then I'll see if I can patch in to your part of hyperspace.
