[ river is wrapped up in a blanket, and all you can see is her face. but it's obvious she has wings today, same as everyone else - you can see the shape of them, an outline, under the blanket. they look... sharp. very unpleasant. river doesn't look too good herself. she's sickly and fidgeting and her eyes are flitting downwards constantly. ]

[The camera clicks on, but for the moment, the view is partly obscured by the cuff of someone's grey silk shirt sleeve as the operator adjusts it. The angle yaws back and forth several times and in so doing, we get a glimpse of a narrowed grey eye squinting at it. Mozart's "Voi che sapete" can be heard playing in the background.

[Finally, the camera stops wobbling and the hand encased in the sleeve withdraws; we get a view of a tall, slender man with a pale complexion, peering at the camera through platinum blond fringe that obscures one eye. He's rather expensively clad in a grey silk shirt, open at the collar, with a white linen waistcoat, also unbuttoned. The bookcase-lined room behind him suggests a Victorian gentleman's study, though a few ukiyou-e prints can be seen hanging on the walls as well.]

There we go: you'll have to excuse the camera abuse, as I would be the first to admit, I'm not as adept with a web camera as I am with a scalpel. [Said with a bit of a smirk]

[ there is only the sharp flicker of static and the humming of the microphone as the video trickles on. shivers on. there is only the slow swell of music coming out from somewhere, though the source does not become clear before the eventual stilling of imagery. before the eventual settling of form. (and even now, it seems to blur like vision upon waking. and even now, it seems to smudge like fingers over ink. like the quick strike of a match. as the darkness seems only illuminated by the figure who sits, back to the camera, in the middle of the room.)

and though it seems difficult to tell, at first glance, the source becomes clearer as they shift. as fingers, though highlighted faintly, seem to balance upon strings. as a bow seems to angle, slowly. as the owner of this peculiar set of wings adjusts his chin upon the rest. (a violin?) and in this setting, they are the only things that seem to glow. they are the only things that seem to echo out from somewhere foreign. a burning vividness, though it cannot be said if they are warm or cold as they fracture and flicker through the wooden back of the chair they are seated in. and, even with the abnormality - the oddity --

he seems not to note them. he seems to handle such strange and transient things without pause. as though he might have long become accustomed to them. long might have had to listen to the colder prickle of light (finally evident) up against the back of his neck. only visible when he tilts forward, with the nameless piece he plays. visible only when the two pairs below dim and brighten. like embers. (and the two that sprout highest seem to arc unpleasantly. seem to sharply curve upward, before settling. again. again.)

and though it becomes clear that this individual may or may not know the presence of the recording, he seems to continue playing on. seems to continue with notes that match nothing in particular that might have been heard, before. as the feed, without much fuss, seems to eventually, inevitably--

[The feed cuts in to show Rose, apparently absorbed in her Grimoire for Summoning the Zoologically Dubious, which for once isn't being used as a glorified laptop rest. Quite why she should be examining this tome right now is unclear, but what is apparent is that there appear to be some shadowy appendages that might be wings sprouting from her ankles. The exact form of these wings is hard to define - any time they appear to rest for long enough to almost give a hint of their true form, they seem to shift again. Still, it doesn't appear that Rose is too concerned by them - though how much of that is an act is also unclear.]

I suppose this is where I should reassure everyone that in spite of the title of this grimoire, I have no intention of summoning anything. I am merely attempting to expand upon my options a little, and possibly even find out from whom I appear to have borrowed these delightful ankle adornments.

I would have thought that the community became confused and attempted to turn me back into an eagle without success - but I see other people are having a similar dilemma.

[Gellert has a forest green robe draped across his shoulders which he now drops slightly and half turns to reveal bold and strong-looking golden eagle wings on his upper back - except they are in miniature.]

I doubt that these can soar into the air...

[A shirtless Tokiya is seen pacing around his room, wearing only a pair of jeans. Sprouting from his back are two feathery wings. One of the wings is as black as night while the other wing is completely white. Outside of his room, someone is banging on the door, yelling "Tokiya! Let me in! I stay here, too, you know!" Tokiya paused in his pacing long enough to shoot a glare at the door.]

Find another place to stay, Otoya. I'll explain it later.

[The boy on the other side of the door whines at the words. Tokiya walks himself over to the bed opposite his own, grabs up a pillow and his pajamas and walks to the door. He opens it just enough to throw the things out, then slams the door shut and locks it. The boy on the other side of the door mutters and footsteps are heard walking away.

Tokiya then turns and glares fiercely at the computer.]

This is all -your- fault.

[No, he doesn't realize that the camera is on, but he can see the screen.]

[ and for a long moment, nothing at all seems to settle. and for a longer moment, nothing at all seems to pause. flickering in-and-out of existence. a broken up series of half-images. half-scenes. mangled and indiscernible. static interruptions. before what seems to fade and snow in is only a deeply reflective wall. metal, perhaps. before what seems to scramble in, is the figure of a rather usual figure, without the sprawl of a pristine bed. this time, awake. more alert. seated upon a bench, somewhere, as the feed displays his profile. as something, deep within the belly of this place, continues to hum on.

and there's a deep quiet in the way his mantle lays across his lap. a deep silence in the way his shoulders seem to rest without the weight of it. a strong level, and he does not seem to regard whatever records him in any fashion, though the wings that rest solemnly against his back shift from time to time. the uniform he wears, carefully manipulated to free them. and though they are not too large, they are familiar. somehow. they hold the shape of the bird who once rested beside him. that once spoke beside him, as he slept on. a strange and quiet albatross.

perhaps.

and they are deeply colored and heavy things. nearly healthy, beyond the occasion rough patches. the occasional nicked and tattered feather. a stranger sight in neater rows. layered. and -- there is the flicker of something else. a momentary flash of reddened skin over bone. strange, deep burns. circular, almost. imperfect. and though they seem to cause him no pain, the settling of wings disguises them again. no matter how softly rumpled, with some sleep, the exterior appears to be. but, it is a moment longer, before he comes to speak.

a moment longer, before his lips seem to move. a deep delay: ]

You've come again, Community. [ and his voice is surprisingly deep for his frame. without harsh edges. though it is not soft, either. firm, but gently, perhaps.

but, he turns his head. if slightly. regards the source, his eyes surprisingly red. penetrative. but, he does not say much. does not say anything else, at all. only blinks, if thoughtfully, before inclining his head. as if in understanding.

Oh ha ha. This is cute. The community thought it would be funny to give me glass wings with raw edges! Ruined one of my favorite blouses. Couldn't it at least give me a pair of glass wings with sanded or beveled edges so I don't cut through everything? The feathers on these things are as sharp as daggers.

I hope other people are enjoying this little surprise virus.

Anyone can see the terrible scars that litter his pale skin as he tosses water on to his face from the sink in the bathroom. So far he hasn't noticed that the community has captured his image from a source that isn't the computer.

Rising up to his full height, he grabs a hair tie and studies his reflection in the bathroom mirror before heading out.

[If you've seen Alexia lately, she is still rather pregnant. She does in fact waddle as she moves to take her seat before the camera. It is a most graceful waddle, of course.

However, as she takes her seat you might notice that she too has been gifted with a set of wings. She looks mildly annoyed at their presence before addressing the camera.]

I have taken notice that many others of the community have found themselves winged. I am curious to see how the wings differ from person to person and if so, do the wings have any particular meaning. If anyone has insight on the matter I would be interested to hear.

[Have one Ken Hidaka. It's not all that unusual of a sight, if one doesn't count the black wings curled just along his shoulders. Poor boy hasn't been able to get a shirt on all day thanks to the new appendages, so it's left all his scars very visible.]

[Here is a Jak. Here is a Jak examining his wings. One wing seems to be more a set of tendrils in a winglike shape, glowing blue-white, and the other is made of floating, intricate structures of bronze-colored metal, lined with odd symbols (were anybody obsessive enough to take a picture and somehow had the resources to translate them, they would read "h-e-r-o").]

Well, this is... new. It's like the most harmless virus ever. All it seems to be is awkward.

Then again, I guess I'm used to having wings.

[Butterfly has managed to work around her wings by the expedient of putting her top on backwards, for lack of any better option. Said wings seem to be dull yellow butterfly wings with an oddly ragged edge and a brightly colored pattern on them. She flutters them a little, and a breeze out of all proportion to the movement ruffles her hair.]

Well, these are... very strange. I seem to have weather-butterfly wings. Perhaps it would be best for me to stay indoors today so I don't do too many odd things to the weather. People will ask questions.

This could have come at a better time, to be honest. We're supposed to be making plans today - I think we're finally going to be making our move soon. Two Fire Herb won't be happy about me missing the planning session, but when I have to wear my shirt backwards because I have mysteriously acquired wings is not a good time to be wandering around in public.

[Zel is examining his wings with the aid of a mirror. Predictably, because even in generic fantasy universe men don't usually have backless shirts, he isn't wearing one. He doesn't seem to have noticed that his computer's recording.

At first glance, his wings look like simple pigeon's wings, and about to scale with a pigeon, too, these plain gray things. But then he shifts a little and the light glints off them like they're made of metal. As if he's expecting them to be sharp, he tests the edge with a finger, but it just slips along the side, revealing them to be solid rather than covered in separate feathers.]

Very lifelike, but a little unexpected. Wonder if it means anything.

[most of the rest of the video is taken up by a young girl-- she's standing with her back to the camera, and is close enough that all that can be really seen are her wings (colorful; very funky-looking and patchworked), and a few snatches of blonde hair]

[not much of the room she's in is visible, but if anyone looks closely, it's clearly a girl's cluttered bedroom: clothes, accessories, some toys, a guitar lying on a large semicircled windowseat]
