[Memory Lane virus]
[The video opens in the house in Godric’s Hollow where Dumbledore lives, but the appearance has shifted and rearranged – furniture is different, and the wallpaper seems less frayed and worn. On the video sits Albus, except as a child – one no more than ten years old. He reads a book until there’s the distant bang of a door slamming open and the wail of a young girl sobbing.

A man and a woman can be heard, yelling in panicked voices from further below in the house. Albus slams his book closed and runs down the stairs; in the sitting room are his mother and a man who looks much like Albus will when he grows older, who holds a tiny, shrieking Ariana in his arms. Ariana’s clothes are torn, her hair a mess and clearly scraped and bruised all over, and she cries with all her might, clinging to her father desperately.]

Father? Father, what’s happened –

Go upstairs! Go upstairs now and keep your brother up there as well!

[His father seems furious, though Albus isn’t the target. Albus hesitates a moment, looking at his sister, but he does as he’s told and runs back upstairs to sit in his brother’s room – but he keeps his ear to the door, ignoring his brother’s requests to know what’s going on.

A few minutes later, the crying has subdued, but there are shouts from below, with Albus’ mother shrieking, “Percival, you can’t, Percival come back here -“. But there’s the slam of the front door, and then silence.

The memory shifts to a later date, though Albus is not much older. He and his brother Aberforth are huddled in front of a magical radio, pressing their ears to listen as a voice announces:]

- has declared Percival Dumbledore guilty of both charges of murder. Here in the courtroom, a pair of dementors has approached the defendant to escort him immediately to Azkaban prison…

[Aberforth starts crying, though he tries to stifle it. Albus just sits there, numb, staring into space and looking very small and afraid.]

I have a question. If anyone can answer me, I'd appreciate it.

Some of you said that you knew me, once. Except that I was older than I am now. And some of you are from the same world and have heard of me but are from a different time.

...did I ever mention what happens to my brother and sister? Or has anyone heard mention of them at all?

Any information would be very helpful.

[Have a small, fluffy puppy staring at you, community.

The dog seems confused, turning itself around in circles before looking at the book that connects him to the community. He lets out a little yip, trying to draw someone's attention and pawing at the pages.

If you look behind him, you might recognize Dumbledore's house, looking the same as ever.]
24 September 2011 @ 11:52 pm
[The video opens inside of Dumbledore's house -- off to one side sits Dumbledore's eighteen year-old self, sitting with a ten year-old who looks suspiciously like him and is sitting next to him, leaning against his shoulder.

But front and center is what should be a familiar face: Dumbledore, older and wiser once again, smiling down at the community.]

It's very strange, being suddenly brought back to the home I once lived in -- even more so to be brought back to when I lived in it.

Even stranger is remembering very clearly speaking with the community, and then being told I have apparently disappeared from it? And instead my younger self has taken my place.

Oh, community. You never do seem to run out of bizzarre things to do.

[Albus' daydream is short and simple. It shows him standing outside his house late at night, facing the yard. For a moment he just stands there before sinking to the grass, sitting cross-legged.

He pulls out a small stone from his pocket and holds it before turning it over in his hand once, twice, three times.

When he's done, two apparitions appear, seeming like ghosts but not transparent in any way. One is an older woman, who seems stern until she smiles down at her son. The second looks almost like an older Albus, but with cropped hair and wearing striped robes -- clearly the sign of an Azkaban prisoner.

The video feed cuts off soon after, but it lingers long enough to show the bright, unabashed smile on Albus' face.]

[backdated to the virus] [video]
[The video shows Albus, late at night, kneeling in the garden behind his house, glancing over his shoulder.  There's a small hole dug into the dirt, and a small, filthy bundle at his knees, which he  quickly tosses into the dirt and quickly covers.  All the while, his thoughts stream to the community without his realizing:]

The neighbors won't see.  The neighbors won't see.  It's too late at night for anyone to care.  Too late and too quiet, and even if they saw you, they all think we're strange anyhow...

If they realize the cat's gone, I'll say it was an accident.  It was an accident.  Ariana didn't mean to.  She never means to.  What happened with mother, with the roof blowing off, with the shattered glass and torn furniture.  She can't help it.

They don't know that, but that's the point.  They'd be afraid of her if they knew, and that's why they can't know.  It'd mean a small little room in St. Mungo's with no lights and no one to talk to and she'd be afraid, she's so afraid already and

One dead cat isn't so bad.  And Mother...Mother was an accident.  She didn't mean to.  She didn't mean to.

She never means to.

[When he's finished, he glances behind one more time before quickly hurrying into the house.]

I've heard back from Hogwarts. I tried to apply for a teaching position there, they've been searching for a new Transfiguration professor.

Prof. Nigellus was polite, but he doesn't believe an eighteen year-old would really be able to teach students up to seventeen years of age. He suggests getting experience elsewhere. I don't really blame him, to be honest.

It's just difficult looking for work -- not because I can't get a position anywhere. But because it would need to be something where I could keep watch over Ariana or keep her safe while I was away.

I suppose the only thing to do is keep looking.

[The video shown is very brief; Albus walks into the front room of what seems to be his house. When he enters, he glances around to see that the room looks like it's been destroyed, with glasses shattered and the carpet charred and curtains torn off their rods.

Albus doesn't seem surprised to see the room a wreck, just resigned.

In the corner is a teenager that looks a younger, somewhat wilder Albus, holding and comforting a young girl who seems to be crying into his shoulder. There's a short, muffled exchange between brothers, until the younger goes back to soothing their sister. Albus, for his part, takes out his wand and begins mending the room and putting things back in order.]

[text; added later]

Does anyone have any suggestions for any good books or games for a thirteen year-old girl?

She...she needs something to distract her, I think. I've tried playing chess with her, but I don't think she enjoys that very much.

[When he video flickers on, the person looking into the camera might seem vaguely familiar, especially his face and the half-moon reading glasses he wears, as well as the older style of wizarding clothes of someone born in the 19th century.

If you're observant enough, you can definitely see the resemblance to the older Dumbledore, obviously no longer with silver hair or wrinkles. Oddly enough, his nose seems to be straighter than it used to be.

Dumbledore doesn't look at the camera when the video flickers on; instead, he seems focused on writing out a letter onto the pages of the book accessing the community.]

Dear Elphias,

Thank you again for coming to the funeral. I know it threw off our plans -- or rather, your plans now -- but I truly appreciated having a friend there.

I hope Spain is treating you well. At the very least, I hope the weather is kinder than the fog that's been hanging over Godric's Hollow. You'll have to tell me all about Granada and the Alhambra in your next letter.

There isn't much to say about things over here, I'm afraid. Ariana still cries with guilt every night and Aberforth is simply quiet. The neighbors have been kind enough to leave us alone.

I hope to hear from you soon, old friend.

So, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that yet another virus has decided to strike the community.

[He holds up his injured hand, which still looks awful. A red string is attached to the ring finger.]

However, I thought this particular one was limited solely to Valentine's Day.

There's been another accident with a student at the school.

Someone put poison in a bottle of wine belonging to Prof. Slughorn, which he was going to share with a pair of students. One of them drank it and would have very likely died if his friend hadn't quickly used a bezoar to save him.

This is the second time this year that a student's nearly died. I hope that it will be the last.

((He's going to do his very best not to let Harry and Ron know their involvement, since he doesn't want them to freak out over the very-likely-dying thing.))

[Hello, community. Have a young, teenaged Dumbledore peering at you curiously. He seems to be puzzling over what he's looking at, not realizing that his book has become a link to the community.

He picks up a quill and scrawls on its pages, wondering what kind of magic this book has been enchanted with.]

Hello. What is

[There's the sound of a crash coming from elsewhere in the house and of a small girl wailing. Dumbledore drops his quill and hurries off to see what's happened.]

I have some things to ask you...

[Failed Lock]

Christmas is coming soon... I wonder if I'll have three weeks of it again.

(Follow up of this and the FOP Christmas special I ran though last year. Yeah, 15 days of Christmas. Not suspicious or twitchy XD)

[There's not very much sound right away, just quiet and maybe the subtle sound of sheets rustling a tiny bit.

And then you can hear Eris talking.

"Get up sleepyhead. Come on, now, get up. You've slept almost the whole day away."

[There's the small sound of a male voice groaning as he wakes up.]

"There you go. Did you enjoy last night, dearie?"

[There's a five second pause.

And then you hear the sound of Dumbledore screaming.

That was fun!

I found that most enjoyable, didn't you?

Hogwarts Virus Post [forward-dated two hours]
Good evening, residents of Hogwarts.

I would once again like to say how very glad I am to see everyone back at Hogwarts once again; while I'm sure we all enjoyed our summers, I am always quite pleased to return back and see this place filled with life once more.

That said, I must remind all of our students, new and old, to keep in mind that the rules governing the castle have not lessened. Already we have students becoming lost in the Forbidden Forest or injuring themselves using magic in the hallways; I must remind them that the rules are in place for a reason, as certain students learned when they realized the full discomfort of being bitten by doxies after setting them free from their classroom.

Also, I would be remiss if I did not remind the staff that they are also bound to the rules, particularly the ones regarding experimenting on students and drinking Firewhiskey on-hours.

That being said, I wish you all a lovely evening, and a good rest before a new week of classes start.

- Prof. Albus Dumbledore

[Video] A wedding, a wedding,We're going to have a wedding~
[You see Eris in front of two giant monsters that are trying to relocate what it seems to be two freaky giant rocks or perhaps two small mountains.

No, no, I said to the left, right over that village. OVER IT. [Eris huffs.] Do I have to do it all myself? Why are all the minion always so slow?

[Another monster, a bit smaller, approaches the goddess and rubs against her legs like an oversized cat . She pets it's hea...tentacles.] There, hello my pretty. What is it?

[The tail of the monster points to the camera and Eris turns.]

Oh...perfect. [Eris smiles and claps his hands.] Duckies, how nice to see you. We going to be a wedding and you are all invited..if you dare to come, of course. Bring presents.

Albus, sweetheart, my lovely future husband, don't be late. I'm not a patient woman.

[Hello community. Today, have a rather adorable puppy staring at you, head on its paws and flopped on the arm of an armchair. When the video starts, it wags its tail a tiny bit, before a voice appears from seemingly out of nowhere.]

Well, isn't this an interesting little predicament. I appear to have been turned into a small dog for a virus this time around. Though at least I was lucky enough that it didn't happen while I was still at the school.

[He stands up on the arm of the chair and does a little puppy backstretch.] I suppose there's much worse things to be turned into. As it is, I am really rather fluffy.

((Animal Virus + Thought-Reading Virus = Dumbles is a puppy now, but he can communicate because of his publically broadcast thoughts))
