Donna Moss can't come on here anymore.

I'm sorry; I know some of you were friends with her.

Are you all still affected by this month's community-related time-waster?

I was going to ask for opinions on leaving livestock in coworkers' offices, but if you're all even crazier than usual I'd just as soon skip that.

Today's life lessons from the White House:

Sometimes, there's nothing better than seeing a colleague and friend make a complete fool of himself on live television.

There is never anything worse than finding out that you're going to have to work with the person who wiped the floor with him.

[this evening, DDD is being treated to an intercepted television transmission-- to be specific, a special emergency report delivered by a somber-looking newscaster]

Good evening. We are getting reports that multiple gunshots were fired at President Bartlet as he was leaving a public event in Rosslyn, Virginia. The shots were fired approximately seven minutes ago from a nearby office building, and we've received reports of several critical injuries. The President has been reported to be stable, but beyond that, no names have been disclosed at this time. We'll keep you updated.

[and the feed cuts out]

Do you think it's unprofessional for a leader to take his suit jacket off during a speech?

[a couple of hours later]

... I should have known some part of this would end up on the community-- I'm just surprised it wasn't something that made us all look like unprofessional slackers. Our press secretary lips-synched to some Ronny Jordan in front of the entire west wing a few hours ago-- I would have recorded it for you guys if I wasn't afraid of being murdered in my sleep.

Anyway, not that any of you are likely to care, but we just got a new justice confirmed to the Supreme Court. You may all begin lavishing me with congratulations and praise at any time.

[guess what, DDD? feed of a televised White House press briefing has been inexplicably diverted to the community!]

[however, those who know him might be surprised that one Josh Lyman, who is decidedly not the press secretary, is up there on the podium]

cut for length )

[ooc: blue is Josh, red is various reporters ♥ the video of the scene itself is here (starting at around 0:40), though nothing but the end of the briefing itself is shown on the community-- all cutaways and everything before and after are left out]

Say someone screws you over in a big way, causing a lot of trouble for you, your friends, and the people you work for in the process.

Would you give them a second chance?

Just in case we have any personifications of... diseases running around this place, you should probably make a note that two days before a major address is a pretty bad time to give a head of state the flu.

[off-camera, someone speaks his name in a warning tone, but he barrels on]

Five White House staffers in the room. I would like to say to the 1.6 of you who are stoned right now that it's time to share.

You know, this place forces itself on you at the most inopportune times. We're working on all the census stuff right now, things are really busy, and suddenly "DramaDramaDuck" won't leave me alone again on any of my computers. This is gonna be a tough one to explain to the president.

To all you people out there: appreciate your elected officials and your government workers. You have no idea how much stuff we go through and how hard we work.

[then the community decides to show everyone a little snippet of video feed, taking place later in the evening:]
