The wizard Howl's castle was seen moving over the hills near Market Chipping again today. Fanny was fretting with a customer about how he must be coming to steal another young girl's heart.

You see, there are stories of the terrible wizard Howl, and how he steals the hearts of young women to become more powerful. And yet...I have never heard of someone who knew of this first hand. It seems that someone always hears the story from a friend or acquaintance, who heard it from another friend or acquaintance and so on...

I was wondering, community, do you know stories and rumors like that? Where the source of them seems unknown? Do you put much stock in such stories?

Sometimes, I think the girls of Market Chipping just like to frighten themselves.

My darling duckies, I am horrified by the low number of points I have accumulated in the community beauty pageant. I know I must have some fans among you muffins, because I do so adore each and every one of you. I am begging you to come to my assistance!

[Lord A is smiling most bemusedly at his slice of Barmbrack -- after all, it's not like he can eat it. Still, he begins pinching off pieces and offering them to his drones. He's familiar enough with the custom to be amused when he comes across the stick.]

Always a bridesmaid and never a bride, Community. Please, tell me something I don't already know.

[OOC: Lord A will be unusually mean to everyone in the comments. Except Randolph, who probably won't notice a difference...]

Darlings. My dear friend Raenef has pointed out, very rightfully, that this season practically begs for a masquerade ball. With that in mind, we think it is absolutely necessary that the community observe the holiday with a small get together. You are all, of course, invited. I do hope you come. It will be terribly delightful.

[And beneath is a photo of an engraved invitation, inviting the community to a party at Lord Akeldama's townhouse this Friday.]

[Ah, the peaceful charm of family life. The video opens on Lord Akeldama's parlour, decked out as always with its extravagant colors, patterns, and... artwork.

The gentleman himself is seated on a loud puce and aubergine chaise that seems to have been custom dyed to his current outfit. But of course, that's ridiculous. Or is it? At any rate, a fat calico is stretched contentedly over his legs, and he seems entirely at peace. A pretty picture indeed, and very much in contrast to the other side of the room.

On the other side of the room, a group of drones are clustered together, nearly in tears. Hair has been pulled from elaborate coiffures, cravats are mussed, and most horrific of all, their cuffs appear stained with what looks very much like some sort of pureed fruit. The young men cling together, petting and reassuring each other to keep from total breakdown. And in the middle of it all, sleeping contentedly on the back of one extremely resigned looking drone, not a spot on her, is Prudence.

Lord Akeldama gives their plight no weight, continuing his very serious work. He seems to have gotten ahold of a bedazzler and is carefully accessorizing a waistcoat. A child-sized pinnafore, already quite glittery, is laid out beside it.]

29. disguised trio

*Kano is crossdressing. No, really. She's binding, wearing sunglasses, and has on an outfit that would not look out of place in an early-2000s boy band. She clears her throat, twirls her microphone, and grins at the camera.*

Hey, all you Lights fans! The three of us are coming your way!

*The screen is filled up with promotional images of Kano, Yayoi, and Black★Rock Shooter, all similarly passing for guys and posing in posters that would not be out of place in an eleven-year-old girl's room.*

That's right, we're taking our tour all over and sending all our love to you! Hear our latest hit, "Shot in the Dark", along with songs like "Puddle of Love" and "Spark My Heart", which have captured your hearts the universe over! Check your local stations to find out if we'll be playing near you! Also, buy our new CD, "Searching for You", in stores now!

We'll be waiting!

[later, video -- locked to Yayoi, Shooter, and Akeldama]

*Kano has ditched the compression shirt and backwards baseball cap and now just looks like a girl dressed as a guy. She sighs.*

Are we any closer to finding Princess Utena? Or, for that matter, the Light of Hope, whatever it is? Not that this isn't a lot of fun, but we kinda suck as bodyguards if we lost her again.

[At first there is only audio. Those familiar with Lady Maccon's sharp tone will recognize her voice.]

As I said before, Prudence had gotten hold of the device and was pressing keys at random. I thought it would do little harm as we have been disconnected for some time. But when I looked I most certainly saw the community in the panel there.

[There's the clicking sound of someone typing when suddenly the video clicks on! Alexia, Professor Lyall, and Lord Akeldama are all curiously huddled in front of the screen. Prudence meanwhile, is firmly placed in Alexia's lap, though she is trying desperately to play with the sleeve of Lord Akeldama's coat. Oddly enough, while little has changed in the three adults, Prudence looks noticeably older. Somewhere around two years old.]

Ah! See! [Alexia looks triumphant.]

[Professor Lyall anxiously polishes his glassicals, which he was using to examine the device just a moment ago.]

Yes, it does seem to be entirely functional again, after all this time- but why now? We all gave up hope quite some time ago.

[Alexia, meanwhile, smiles softly at her daughter.] You are just a clever girl, aren't you Prudence?

No. [Prudence giggles before turning her attention back to Lord Akeldama's sleeve.]

Why Puggle, do be careful That is crushed silk!

[But he reaches for the child, ruffling her hair affectionately.]

Halloo, ducks! Fancy seeing you again!

[ooc: regular text is alexia, italics is Prudence, green is Professor Lyall, and blue is Lord Akeldama.]

[O la.
Cut for image! (Not IC) )
I can haz virus?

Sorry, community, no cute animal hijinks from Lord A. This is one dignified cat. And so sleek!]

[Looks like your "how will you run a computer without electricity or the internet" concerns were unfounded, Community! He knew they would be.]

Good evening, my dear little Anatidae Anseriformes. I do hope you all find yourself feeling quite the thing.

[At this, Lord A gives a rather exaggerated yawn.]

I myself must look a fright.

[Nonsense, he looks as fresh as ever.]

I find having construction done on one's abode to be so tiring, don't you? Of course, while it has its benefits [Like burly, lower class men parading around one's house scantily attired] it just absorbs so much of one's energy. And to make matters worse, these tradesmen insist on doing their work during the day. It doesn't bother me, of course, but I do feel for my dear boys. I shall have to plan a diversion for them!

Now, enough of that. How are you all? I'm dying to know.
18 March 2012 @ 03:50 pm
Ducks! Thank you so much for these wonderful machines. I have been able to find so many delicious tidbits. It's simply divine. Look, someone has even seen fit to write a novel about me. Or perhaps about our dear Lady Maccon, but I understand I feature prominently. As well I should.

Now, according to this wonderful website known as "TV Tropes," my world is an example of what is known as Steampunk. Isn't that simply the most darling thing? How dreary to think that your worlds do not have, say, dirigibles, or aethergraphic current. I am terribly sad for you, buttons!

My goodness, I just had the most stunning idea. I don't know why I didn't think of it before! You must all come for a party. My townhouse is more than large enough to accomodate an intimate gathering of just us ducks! Of course, I must insist on proper attire, but I'm sure that is no trouble. Shall we say the 31st of March? I will, of course, send out a more formal invitation in the future, but since this is somewhat short notice, do consider this your 'save the date' card. Of course, I will require some of you to worldhop guests to my location. That won't be a problem, will it?

My goodness, I am aflutter. I will have to commission a new outfit for the occasion!

[ETA: I've updated Lord A's ooc info post on the ball here. Please read it for more info (even if you read it before! Updates at the bottom!) and feel free to ask any questions there.]

Ducklings! It has come to my attention that some of your devices will display images, or even moving pictures. I, alas, am limited to the transcription provided by my aethographic transmitter, and while the descriptions are perfectly florid, I simply cannot stand being behind the times. I would be thrilled to barter for one of these so-called computers and an upgraded cellular phone.

[Where does Lord A. get his information? It's a mystery, community, mystery.]

Now then. I assure you, I can afford the expense. There's no need to be shy, little tradesmen!
29 January 2012 @ 06:09 pm
Ducks. How positively charming! to think, the world had such hidden depths of which I was not aware, and yet here you all are in my aethographic transmitter. I knew it picked up a wide range of transmissions, but I was not expecting this. I feel positively faint. I must assume this transmission is being received. How are you all on this fine evening.
