[ Accidental Video ]

[ There's a Buffy on screen, sitting on the floor of her room and dumping a red bag of stuff out on the ground. Incense, incense holders, matches-- oh and there's a jar of sand. Buffy looks up. ]

Thanks for coming over. I really appreciate the help. [ And her boyfriend, Riley Finn, kneels down across from her. ]

Sure thing. So what do I do?

[ Buffy hesitates for just a second, her eyes down for that brief moment, then looks up at him. ] Lots. Tons. Lots and lots of tons. [ A brief nod and a smile. ] This is all kinda--

New terrain?

All prayin', no slayin'. [ She lets out an audible breath, it's kind of obvious that she's nervous about something. Buffy looks down to the pile of items and points quickly to the pile. ] The incense needs to be ignited, and there's a job. And, uh, and this stuff needs to get poured around me in a circle, counter-clockwise.

So you need me to light incense and pour sand?

[ Buffy looks up at him with her eyes a little wider than normal. ] Magic incense a-and spooky sand? And the ritual itself is--

Something you do alone. [ Riley looks down for a second before looking back up at her. Buffy's trying her hardest to not look like a deer caught in headlights and failing pretty hard. ] You sure this isn't just your way of trying to make me feel less... what are the words? "Cute and weak and kittenish?"

Kitten-y.

Right. Much manlier.[ Riley stands up and heads over to sit on Buffy's bed now. Buffy's eyes follow him. ] Look, uhm... I really am okay.

I know.

And so I'm not quite Super Guy anymore. It was borrowed power anyway, I had to give it back sometime. [ Riley's tone makes it obvious that he's trying to shrug it off, but he looks down as he speaks and he visibly swallows at the end of his words. Buffy looks a little worried. ]

I know you can handle yourself. I just didn't want to see you get hurt. [ A little shrug. ]

Maybe instead of you trying to take care of me, we agree to take care of each other. Deal?

[ Buffy smiles and stands up. ] Done. [ Riley stands then and the two shake hands and Riley leans over to kiss her forehead. ] For luck.

[ Riley turns to leave, but Buffy doesn't let go of his hand and pulls him back. ] Hey! [ A coy smile. ] A girl needs more luck than that.

[ Then they kiss on the lips after a brief smile from Riley, who then turns to leave the room. ] Have a nice trip. [ Buffy shuts the door after him, then turns around to light incense and pour oddly colored red sand in a circle on the ground, then-- the video cuts out. ]



{ ooc: THIS COLOR IS RILEY. Non-colored dialogue is Buffy. Canon move to No Place Like Home. Replies ICly the next day and when she replies, if you look closely (replies only, not in the original post) you can see the remnants of an injury on her forehead above her left eye-- it kind of just looks like a weird scratch by now though. }

Oh boy. Uh. Sand art. I was going to make sand art with my boyfriend on my floor. The incense was just to mess with my sister.

A transmutation circle. That's like... turning something into something else right? Definitely not that.

No, I'm dooming the vacuum to that task.

Circles are circles. Generally I think the only thing they have in common is that they're round.

Yeah, but. Boyfriend stuff? Totally something that should be kept indoors.

Uh. Mostly, it was a meditation thing. I was going to do it with my boyfriend, but he decided not to participate. It failed anyway, my sister interrupted.

Well there are plenty of people who can do magic. I just am apparently not so good at it.

It seems pretty complicated. All that effort for a spell that failed...it must be a big spell or a terrible magic system...

Big spell. Magic requires a lot of practice on top of that and I'm not the biggest person on magic practice.
