Y'know, I'm pretty well-versed when it comes to magic items, but I've never seen anything like this before. A journal that talks back? Definitely a new one! I kinda wish I'd thought of it myself, but oh well. The ducks are a nice touch!

I wonder how this happened to my journal, though...

Maybe one of the other mages used it for an experiment and then left it here. People leave important stuff lying around all the time.

Or maybe... I actually found a cursed item and by opening and reading it, I just doomed myself to a really horrible death! [He sounds pretty casual about that possibility and, if anything, his smile actually brightens a little.] That'd be something!

...

Or maybe it was just a fluke earlier and I'm sitting here talking to myself like a crazy person. It wouldn't be the first time, ha ha!

Well... I'm in the army, so I don't get to see a lot of the country myself anymore, since we're almost always on the move! But it can get really hot and sunny and most of the time it's pretty dull! The country's not in the greatest shape, so we don't have a lot going for us, ha ha!

Ha ha, well, it's not a war just yet, nothing's been declared or anything! But it's pretty obvious that the King's trying to provoke one with our neighbours in Ylisse, so it's only a matter of time now.

What would your opinion on that be?

Well, see... A lot of Plegians really hate Ylisseans, because they invaded us about fifteen years ago and almost destroyed the country. So it makes sense that a lot of people still hold a grudge.

But if you want my opinion... I don't really care! [He shrugs and lets out a short laugh.] I just fight who I'm told to fight!
