I wonder if some kind of consequence might get them to learn. Like if the custodians find their equipment again, they get to keep it. Of course, we'd have to talk to Mr. Kaitou about it...

If they really value their things, they won't leave them lying around. And at the very least, I doubt they want to spend all that money to replace it.
