[locked from the master]

I know that I have perhaps not gone out of my way to make friends in this community, but I would ask a favour nonetheless.  Is there anybody here willing to hide me?  I... have good reason to fear for my life- from the man you know as the Master, or Harold Saxon.

Perhaps you know, but we were once married.  That ended when I killed him.  Unsurprisingly, we have not precisely got on well since I discovered him to be alive here, but now... I don't know what he plans on doing to me; I don't think he wants to kill me; there are much worse things than that he could do.  He has such depths of cruelty, I-

Please.  I know enough of you are enemies of his that you might extend that to help me.  Please.  If payment is required, I have ample funds, only I fear I must get away as quickly as possible.

You killed him once, you can do it again, right?

I could provide you with a place to stay. This "Master" is certainly no friend of mine.

I live in... well, my world. There's no name for it, other than the usual "Earth," and I can't describe it by who else from the community is here because nobody is.

I could transport you to one of my worlds. Even if he is as powerful as he seems the vast number of planets in my galaxy will at least buy you some time.

By all means.

Do you have any preference to the conditions of the world?

*thinks for a bit* You can work with computers, correct? And do other secretarial jobs?

I could place you as an aid to one of the monarchies. You would be well looked after, but virtually anonymous.

If that is acceptable, then I shall get you started at once.

My universe is huge. And a bit...strange. I won't go into details. You will fit in quite well in the world that I have selected for you, though I might find a few basic history texts that would make conversation easier. But if you venture outside its solar system, I cannot guarantee that you will be safe. Retain your anonymity at all costs, and never mention that you know me.

Other than that, you should be fine.

Hmm. For now, I shall keep myself anonymous as well. When this is over, we shall have a formal introduction.

As I said, you will find fitting in quite simple. As long as you are unsurprised by people on this community, you will find little unusual on Elloras. But it might be best if I were to give you a guide, and a bodyguard.

((ooc: Karakael is from a book series called The Inquest by Somtow Sucharitkul. If you can't find any information online, I'll happily write up a plot synopsis and give a bunch of details.))

Indeed.

My worlds are far from utopias, I am afraid. You should be safe if you do not take any unecissary risks. Still...

I hesitate to give you one of my children, not because I worry for them, but because I understand your pain from loosing your virus-ed family. Yet 'Tash would be a worthwhile guide and protector, and could might make finding you more difficult. (I am assuming he would be searching for a young woman alone, not one with a child.)

I do not normally advertise this, but in my universe children are used in our armies. It is true, Tash is only twelve by your standards, but he is a trained fighter and has retained the...upgrades he was given upon entering the ranks of childsoldiers. He is by far the most mature of the children, and has shown a flare for strategy that might serve you well.

Still, I will happily bow to your wishes.

It might be best to simply let you decide when you arrive. Speaking of which...when would be a good time for you to be picked up? I'm sure you need to pack and the like.

Of course. I can be with you shortly.

Where would you like to be picked up from?

Pack comfortable clothing. You will need it in your new job.

*goes to pick her up*

((ooc: Either way works!

As for some background info (sorry for the long post!)

The world on which Karakael is depositing her is barely mentioned in the book series (getting a passing mention in one of the epilogues), so feel free to 'invent' what ever you want for it. The world is called Irinika and she is to be secretary to the mystic and historian Professor Naripeshtwi.

The world will still be recovering from the ravages of the Inquestoral war, despite it being almost a millenia after the final Inquestor died. So I imagine that the thinkhive (the planetary computer system) would still be operating, but it would likely be insane and hard to reason with. Fragments of Inquestoral technology and myths will still abound; displacement plates can transport her across the city or merely two steps farther ahead, stories will still be told of the Overcosm and the Tacheon corridors. The Inquestors (of which Karakael was one) will be revered as gods - Siriss as one of balance, Karakael as one of Darkness, and Elloran as one of light.

I pictured Irinika as being that of a world in early renaissance, recovering from something like a plague. Think of the Inquestors as Romans and the Professor as Da Vinci and you wont go wrong!
