That's a shame. It makes life interesting. Very interesting. After all, having nobody to match you is simply boring.

See, you understand. The thrill of the chase, savoring your equal in combat, be it physical or intellectual, seeing them fall, that look in their eyes when you gain the upper hand... oh, it's what makes life worthwhile. If the Doctor were gone, I'm not sure what I'd do with myself.

He's the only one who has come close to killing me. I have survived with a crucifix pierced through my chest for two days, been shot in supposedly fatal locations and taken on units of men by myself, but only he and his blade have actually taken me to the brink, to the edge of death. Only his sword made me feel pain at its most intense.
