[ Souji is perched around the backside of a large statue of a horse. Behind him is a fantastic view of Paris; it's nighttime and beginning to snow. He's wearing a dark black cloak and a white half-mask.
The camera moves to focus on a couple. The male croons tenderly at her and the female responds in kind. Their passion for each other clearly increases as the scene progresses, to Souji's obvious distress.
As they exit, hand-in-hand, a red rose comes into focus on the snow-ridden ground. A gloved hand reaches down to pluck it up. Souji's face comes back into full view. He's already breaking down in stacatto sobbing - hot, angry tears pouring down his cheeks and onto the rose - when the voices of the lovers return to add insult to injury.
Destroyed, individual petals of the rose fall back to the snowy rooftop. Souji's fury rises exponentionally as he struggles to control his breathing before darting back to the statue, which he nimbly climbs atop while proclaiming his intention to seek vengeance on the couple - obviously the female in particular. ]
You will curse the day you did not do... All... That... The Phantom... asked... of you...!
[ Sinister music backs up his last (harshly) drawn out syllable while the camera pans up, out, and away. ]
