Fancy that

This community never ceases to amaze me. You have spent positively days discussing and brooding upon that rather pointless holiday of "Valentines" - to the extent that I was not informed of the far more interesting holiday.

They say that love triumphs all - I suppose that is why there is such an obsession with affection. But I have found that satire and wit are far rarer commodities. Why content oneself with meaningless professions of love, when one can throw it all away and join the whirlwind of madness for a day?

The feast of fools is at its end - the insanity is at its peak. Who could resist the temptation of perfect anonymity, the opportunity for mischief and madness, all masked? Remain safe behind unflinching faces of bronze or gold, lock pain and judgment away for but one night.

Come, let silver hide your fears, let chrome guide your steps. Listen, can you hear the bells? They call away sanity and erase judgment. Give into their laughter, accompany me to their song.

We've but one night left of Mardi Gras -

Would anyone care to join me?

((ooc: If anyone else is interested, the log is here. Everyone is welcome!))

What is it?

[identity profile] king-of-lies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I might, if I knew what it was.

You were talking about Mardi Gras? Of course it's not talked about. The people who'd be celebrating are all out getting drunk.

We have plenty of our own festivals in the Fire Nation. What's so different about this one?

[identity profile] king-of-lies.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I've never been partial to masks. They scare me. Plus I have so much work to be doing and my boss depends on me. I'm sorry~

Wow. Never really thought of Mardi Gras as a holiday like that, but when you put it that way...sounds fun.

Do your fesitvals include random well-endowed women showing off their 'goods' for necklaces of cheap plastic from being drunk at a night parade?

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
... No.

[identity profile] furyxguns.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
This one does. At least in America. Italy has more pride. And there is the difference you asked for.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not interested, in that case. You see, in the Fire Nation, we have something called dignity.

[identity profile] h4ck3r-61rl.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Not many I know, that's for sure. Makes me want to go find somewhere to celebrate.

Why does my muse like bashing america?! D8

[identity profile] furyxguns.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not American, therefore I have as much dignity as can be.

[identity profile] peoplesprincess.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:47 pm (UTC)(link)
From what I've seen? I doubt that.

[identity profile] furyxguns.livejournal.com 2009-02-24 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Only in public. It's called 'public indecency' and in some countries will get you arrested. I myself just don't want to see people roaming around like dumbshits.
