In other news, the stand-off at the Hinamizawa school building took an unexpected turn the other day when one of the hostages confronted Ms. Rena Ryuugu on the rooftop. After an intense fight between the two teenagers, the bomb was disabled, and Ms. Ryuugu willingly handed herself over to the police. Only two students suffered minor injuries, and no casualties were reported. It is expected that Ms. Ryuugu will be kept in the Okinomiya police station, where she will await trial.
[The woman pauses, looking over as a man rushes in and whispers something into her ear. The man sets down some new papers in front of her, then disappears off screen. After a moment of looking over the notes, the news woman looks back up.]
I have just received some disturbing news. It appears that just this morning, the residents of Hinamizawa were found dead in the same school building that the hostage situation took place at just a couple days ago. Police claim that it was due to a gas leak from a nearby lake. However, they are still investigating more into the incident just to make sure.
The body count still has not been officially verified, but it is suspected that it will be around 200 people in total. The only survivor found so far from Hinamizawa is the perpetrator of school bombing, Ms. Rena Ryuugu. With such a terrible event having taken place, it is doubtful if the small, once peaceful village of Hinamizawa will ever recover.
[OOC Note: We are reaching the end of the Atonement chapter. So, pretty much pretty much all of the Higurashi characters are dead, so Mion and Shion will be taking a little IC hiatus until they're revived. Rena will most likely be making one more post to finish things off, and then it's on to Watanagashi-hen~. So, you can comment, but don't expect to get a response unless you guys feel like talking amongst yourselves.]
