Has anyone here ever heard of someone called Nicholas Flamel?

I have.

A wizard.

[identity profile] treatinferiors.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
A very old sort. He's famous for creating the Philosopher's Stone, I think. It's been awhile since I paid much attention in History of Magic.

You're very welcome.

Hey, kid! This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolas_Flamel) might help!

[identity profile] sandinmyboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Tell us how it goes when you're done, ok?

[identity profile] sandinmyboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't this a research project to discover something?

[identity profile] sandinmyboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
That's also good!

This Philosopher's Stone thing...that's also pretty interesting! Although a lot of it's uses don't seem very useful, such a varied thing could come in handy!

[identity profile] sandinmyboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-12 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but it has some practical applications. Flexible glass? Lamps that never go out? I'm all over that! Illness healing could be useful, but what are they defining as "illness"? Oh, I should try and make one!

[AT LEAST HE'S INTERESTED IN THINGS THAT AREN'T THAT DANGEROUS?]

Nn? The alchemist who they said made a Philosopher's Stone, ain't it? I don't know a whole lot more than that, but...

I've read some things about his work. Have you an interest in his works?

[Small female child looking into Nicholas Flamel? You have her interest.]

Well, some parts of it are pointless. Immortal life is impossible and even if it wasn't, it'd be completely boring! Who wants to live forever? I wouldn't! And gold, I can make things more beautiful than gold myself. But flexible glass would be useful, and illness healing would come in handy!

[identity profile] sandinmyboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-15 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No! Can you imagine how awful it'd be? It'd be fun at first, probably, but then everyone you know would die. Your home crumbles as history takes it's toll. Civilizations rise and fall; technology changes, rises, falls, and everyone you meet dies. Eventually, all of humanity is dead. The animals around you are not like you remember. Time passes. The sun goes out. Nothing is left but you, alone.

Yuck! What a nasty future to have. I'll die when I die and that's how it is!

[HE MAY BE EVIL, BUT HE'S NOT VOLDY. HE EMBRACES DEATH.]

If only I were home right now. I would be able to share the books in my father's library, but I'm afraid I'm very far from there at the moment.

[identity profile] sandinmyboots.livejournal.com 2011-11-16 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't get why that's such a focus for people!

If I had a choice, I'd prefer something like: I will live without illness or injury until this day, and then I'll definitely die on this day. Or something like that.

[identity profile] carriesparasol.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent. There is nothing worse than being in need of information and not being able to secure any sources.

[identity profile] carriesparasol.livejournal.com 2011-12-19 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
When I return home, if you are ever in need of other information I would not mind sharing what books I have in my library.

Certainly. My name is Alexia Maccon should you need to seek me out.
