Let's say you love someone. And no, this isn't hypothetical, I won't pretend that it is and insult your intelligence.
Let's say you love someone. Unfortunately, the culture of your world dictates that if it's ever publicly known that you're in a relationship, you'll be killed by an angry mob. Any potential child between you two will hasten the end of the world by a hundred years.
How do you deal with the knowledge that you're never going to be able to have a public relationship, have children, et cetera?
