(no subject)

A flock of Starly passed over the gym today, and I got to thinking how amazing it'd be to fly. Then I remembered, 'hey! people in this community can do all sorts of neat stuff!', so I find myself asking:

Can any of you fly? What's it like? Is it really as great as everybody says?

Oh, and since not many of you know much about my world, this is a Starly:

[ didn't think that image was large enough to warrant an ooc cut, but if it is, let me know! ]

I usually fly on my broomstick. I never really thought about is, as I really only do that when its a last option...but it is rather nice to have the wind in your hair.

My brother Poe enjoys it as well.Says it's his favorite part of his curse.

Long story short, my brother was turned into a raven. I've given up trying to cure him, since nothing works, so he's used to it. Enjoys spreading his wings.

...And that 'Starly' thing? Are you sure that's just not a very fat pigeon?

Actually, now that you mentionit, I can fly. I don't usually, anymore, it comes from living among humans all the time, but I can.

It is pretty fun.

I can't really. But it is wonderful in simulations.

An actual raven.

...I see. Your bird species are...interestng, to say the least.

The actuators can run at a fast enough clip to give a sensation of flight. It was disturbing at first, not having anything under my feet. But after I accepted the fact that I couldn't fall, it became fairly enjoyable. Hard to stomp around the city without being seen, though.

This (http://allstarz.hollywood.com/~alfredmolina/images/ocksm2dvd414.jpg) is what I mean. My robotic arms can stretch to a length of 20 feet and run as fast as a horse. It's a bit like flying.

Thanks. I built them.

A profession, in a manner of speaking. I'm a doctorate in the field of Physics, but Mechatronics was always my second passion. I built these as tools to sustain a successful fusion reaction.

My world has very advanced virtual reality.

Ah, no, I can't fly... my powers are kind of the opposite of flight. My brother has... had... the True Wind Rune, though. I've never seen him fly, but I wouldn't put it past him.

That is an adorable little bird, though. ^____^ It indeed sounds wonderful to be able to fly. Though I enjoy being the earth just as much as I think I'd enjoy that.

not personally, but i are have the best ship in galaxy

I can't fly without a machine, but there's something close to organic flight about piloting a star-racer. Skimming along maybe ten feet off the ground at five hundred kilometers per hour... it's the most wonderful feeling in the world!

Well, we can't fly, but our world floats, so we have ships that, well, floats as well. And we sail the sky. And we have Air Pirates.

...That creature is really cute.

Since I was made using the DNA of an angel, I can fly. I haven't really done so much, or actually paid much attention while doing it, because I had been preoccupied with other things.

Now, though...the view you get up in the air truly is amazing. It gives a beautiful view of the Earth. I would definitely recommend it if you're able.

...that "Starly" is quite an odd-looking bird.

[identity profile] mollyforeva.livejournal.com 2007-08-10 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess it would be if you weren't used to it... but to me? It's amazing.

A star-racer is... well, in simple terms, it's a flying machine built for speed and nothing else. The one I piloted looked like kind of like the one here (http://www.dvdanime.net/img_news/200643/oban06.jpg") (that's the Whizzing Arrow I, it got wrecked).
