If nobody minds hearing me out, I have a question.

Does anyone here... I mean, that is. Is there anyone here who would be able to teach someone else how to use magic? Even if they were from another world? It's just, I know there are some worlds connected to this place where even ordinary people can learn, and it made me think... well, just that maybe this is how I could help out a little more on my own world. If I knew how to do some things, even if they were just small...

Well, it was just a thought I had.

There is very little I could do about your natural lack of magical ability, but I do know items that people with no magical training are able to use to achieve certain effects. Would that be acceptable?

That's what I thought, too. I know there are definitely some people from magical worlds here, so I'm hoping I'll be able to find someone.

Well, I don't know! I'm sure that I've heard of some worlds where it happens, though. But really, that's sort of why I'm asking, hehe...

Um, then could you tell me more about how magic works on your world, please? If it's not too much trouble, that is... I just want to make sure I know as much as possible before I make a decision, that's all.

Oh yes, I think that would work perfectly! Could you tell me a bit more about them?

Tactics Cards are small cards that, when invoked, can cast one particular spell. For example, you might find Sanctuary useful. Its spell of healing can be quite potent.

They do have a limit to how often they can be cast in succession, but to compensate for that, the more a particular card is used, the more it acclimates to the caster and gains power.

Yes! I'm the most knowledgeable about magic on my world, although it may not be something you're interested in. There are other skills that you may be more interested in.

Magic on my world can either be granted through direct infusion of magic into someone's body, which is fast but has a risk of side effects, or by killing things while carrying 'magicite,' the crystallized corpse of a magical being. All of this kind of magic has a risk of increasing the aggression of the learner.

However! You may like the ability called 'chemistry' better. This is a difficult to master but rewarding ability that allows you to 'mix' two items together in order to create something better. You could mix together healing items to create a better healing item, or you could put monster parts together to create an attack, or to make shielding magic, or many more! You will also learn how to deal with injuries more efficiently.

Oh, I see... actually, that all sounds like it could be really useful for what I'd need it for. Whoever came up with those cards must have been amazingly smart, huh...

What other sorts of spells can you cast with them? And, um. This may sound like a strange question, but are there any side-effects from using them at all?

I suppose that would depend on you and your world. I mean, it's certainly possible.

Mm... I see. I think you might be right, in that case. I don't think it'd be a good idea for me to learn a kind of magic that has those kinds of side-effects. Do people really still take the risk of learning magic that way on your world, even knowing that that might happen to them?

Chemistry...? Um, well, to tell the truth I'm not really all that good at science at all. But... I guess it couldn't hurt to try, right? Is there anything else you could tell me about that?

I'm sure that your chances are good. I know of a few witches but they do not live in town and I don't think they know about this odd community.

Mm, well, my world doesn't have that much magic at all. Actually, until a few days ago, I thought it was completely ordinary. But according to someone there, I've got really strong magical potential... the problem is that my world's kind of magic really isn't that great.

Thank you for thinking about it for me, though. Does that mean you come from a world with magic?

Mm... yes, I can see how it'd be difficult to ask someone without community access. What are witches like on your world?

He was, I hear. Though of course he's passed into legend by now.

There are attacks of all kinds of elemental variations, ways to shield oneself from harm... Ways to turn your opponent to stone, or weaken their weapons, or change the environment. As for side-effects, I can think of none.

Ah... well, it's kind of complicated and I can't really say everything about it in public. But I'm starting to think I can't help just by myself anymore. So I'm trying to find another way.

Indeed he did.

I use them all the time. Of the cards I know of, one explicitly is designed to trade your own energy for fighting power, and I won't give you that one. The rest have no side-effects.
