What do you do when the right thing to do is to let everyone you care about disappear and leave you all alone?

What about when some of the people closest to you are the ones making sure they can and will leave, behind your back, because they don't trust you?

When people disappear here, it means they don't exist beyond someone's memories.

Except for the community, it would be a pretty literal aloneness.

so if i am reading this correctly, there are people for whom you care that personally do not wish to disappear, but someone for whom you care more is intentionally attempting to make them disappear ( ・◇・)？ ヽ(　￣д￣;)ノ

why exactly would you bother staying close to them, then, if you know what they are trying to do and you do not want the others to disappear? if you truly care about them, then tactful confrontation is not something you should avoid.

Oh, there's going to be confrontation. I need to figure out what to do first, because I know that then disappearing is actually the right thing to do too.

then i will make two scenarios (｀・ω・´)” :

(1) you knew early on but refused to tell those who listened to you.
withholding information for the reason of you believing it to be unfair for them could be considered incredibly selfish, but it doesn't sound like that. from the way i see this, it is more your lack in trust in them as to what they would do with this truthful information. either supporting their own disappearance or not is their own decision, not yours.

(2) you only recently found out and are now debating on whether to keep this information to yourself. this, too, can be seen either as an act of selfishness, an executive decision to withhold truth, or another lack of trust of them on your part. ultimately, it sounds like the decision to either stay or disappear is theirs whether or not it may be bad or good for them. taking away that choice is a violation of a simple freedom. i do not know where you stand on the matter, but freedom is important to me, at the very least.

i believe that the 'right' thing to do is to tell them the truth as soon as possible. if they are truly your friends, i believe that they would forgive you for your trespasses. perhaps some of them, if not most, will decide to stay with you regardless. if some of them decide not to trust you anymore and do leave or disappear, it does not sound like you have a good case to hold it against them.

Actually, it just never came up as an issue before now. No one wanted to disappear and the one person who was trying for it was someone we thought was our enemy until recently, so it wasn't an issue.

It's more a matter of time than a matter of consciously choosing not to mention it. There are conditions that have to be met, anyway. That's where it gets complicated. No one would be here if they didn't have a condition they needed fulfilled, so to be able to fulfill it means to reach satisfaction.

The selfish part is definitely true though. Otherwise I wouldn't have to ask.

i do not exactly understand, but it sounds as if this can be simply resolved. ヽ(*・ω・)ﾉ if conditions that need to be met are more of a factor, then it should not matter whether you tell them now, later, or at all. you could do well with letting them know the truth before they do disappear.

That sounds about it. It'd be literally everyone eventually, though. I'd end up in an empty world and you guys would be the only people left to talk to.

Not that you guys aren't great, but I care about everyone here too much.

They'd follow me even if we were bungee-jumping into a volcano. They don't have to, but it's the better thing to do and by them, it'd be the right thing to do for me to let them go.
