Hardly, marriage exists because it is good business it's a concept that has been around since before people started calling it sacred. Often times women were products to be given away in exchange for something else.
Be that as it may marriage was not founded on the concept of love which is the most important thing. Love is more powerful and binding than a marriage that could be easily destroyed by a prenup or wrapped up in the red tape of alimony. So you see, marriage is still business.
Believe me, if two people love each other that's more important than anything, especially since love doesn't require anything special in return. It merely gives.
I suppose people have their reasons, the legal perks, the security of knowing your bonded to another person and they can't or they normally wouldn't wander off after the honey-moon, hearing that person declare their love publically...but more than half of marriages end in divorce so you got me.
That depends on the people involved. Many things can result in a refusal to marry. I did not marry the mothers of my children, though I did not abandon them.
