dramadramaduck | Initially Accidental Video

[This device hasn't recorded in a long time..but it's unburied itself from wherever it wondered off to just in time to show a tall man, dressed simply in a pair of pajama-bottoms and nothing else, sitting on the edge of a bed, his bandaged head in his hands.

After a moment he goes to stand...and stumbles, catching the edge of the desk where the device is recording from to stop himself from falling.]

What...what's going on?

[He looks around and freezes, bright blue eyes going wide as he catches himself in a mirror. This wasn't his face...]

Cass...

[Cassandra. Cassian was looking at Cassandra's face...but through his eyes..? How?
Cassian's eyes catch sight of the device, his expression shifting from confusion to surprised recognition. He picks it up and a small smirk touches his lips when he sees that once--familiar recording light.]

This thing again...good to know it hasn't changed.

[How embarrassing. How does he filter again...? He never really got the hang of that before. Oh well.]

Kasumi...Roze...still on this thing?

[Those two were the only ones he could really remember caring about...

Jezebel too...was all of this his doing?]

Doctor...what happened?

[He doesn't turn on video reply because he doesn't trust his own face right now. But it's hard to miss the tone in his voice. Pure. Massive. Relief.]

...you woke up.

[Voice works...voice is good because he doesn't really know how to process what he saw in the mirror just yet, much less use it.]

Woke up...? I...[Wasn't he dying?]

Cassandra stabbed me. What happened?

[Even his voice. Not exactly what he'd been used to hearing, but it was similar enough it unsettled him.]

Your wound was fatal. There weren't many options to keep you alive.

Dr. Zenopia and I put your brain in Cassandra's body. He was a perfect match - he was the same age, the same blood type, everything. It was the only choice available if you were to live.

[.......then he wasn't imagining things. It was Cassandra's face in the mirror, his voice speaking Cassian's words. This was Cassandra's body...no...it was Cassian's body. Now, anyway.

That explained why he seemed so much taller...he finally had the age-appropriate body he'd so desperately wanted.]

I see.

What about...what happened to him?

[He was trying really hard not to think about if there were any part of that despicable man still left. Was this really Cassian's body now...or was he just sharing?]

He's dead. We threw his brain in the sewers. There was no point in keeping any of his remains once we'd finished.

[As she readies herself to welcome him, he says her name. An uneasiness settles over her; that face is not familiar. Certainly she couldn't have forgotten him? It wouldn't be the strangest thing to ever happen here, but. It couldn't hurt to check.]

Excuse me, sir...?

...why? Did you save me? I'm pretty sure I remember telling you not to.
Cassandra could have just been killed and completely out of your hair.

Why keep any part of him around?

[His expression softens and he...almost smiles. Kind of.]

So, you are still here.

I don't expect you to recognize me, it's alright.

You were promised a new body in exchange for your work for Delilah. I was fulfilling my end of the bargain, though later than I would have hoped to.

You are a fool if you thought I was going to let you do something as idiotic as take a sword through the back on my behalf and simply let you die of it.

[He pauses...then he was a fool.]

...My limbs feel heavy....and walking's a bit...difficult.

[Because talking about what was said when he thought he was dying....yeah no.]

[It takes a moment. Despite all the dubious things that surrounded what had happened before, it was good to see that he hadn't died.]

I'm here. Are you all right?

[His voice evens out a bit, maybe getting a little softer.]

It'll take time to adjust. I can't imagine it's easy waking up to an entirely new set of limbs. But you'll grow used to them with practice.

...my limbs're a little heavy, but they're longer than I'm used to.

[Which was a good thing in its own right.]

You don't seem confused...do you recognize me?

[He had no idea the surgery or even his 'death' had gone out over the network.]

Guess I'll walk around some.

[He goes silent again, for a moment.]

What's going to happen to me?They're not going to let me keep working...not like this.

Dr. Zenopia will want to observe you for at least a few months. This is the first time he was ever able to complete a surgery successfully on a human subject.

They won't harm you, if that's what you're concerned about. I won't allow it.

You are Cassian, right?

[Now her voice is unsure.]

[That is what he meant...but okay.]

So now I'm a specimen, huh? Guess it's better than the alternative.

[For now.]

...are you all right?

[He never really got a chance to ask that before..]

Yeah..

[That's a relief.

Now for something a little more awkward..]

You've been okay, right?

I've been fine but I've heard you haven't. Are you sure you are now?

A specimen, perhaps. But I won't allow them to mistreat you.

[Even though he knows that isn't good enough. Nor should it be.]

I am fine. ...I am just glad you are awake.

You have been here before? My apologies, but, we have met, haven't we?

[He didn't expect to be listened to and, really, he didn't want to talk about it more than that, not right now. But he felt he had to say it.]
