Good afternoon everyone, and happy May Day.

I just have a question to pose to you all if you have the time to answer. I understand if you do not.

What do you think it means to be exploited? Can a person be very good, in a real genuine manner, to you and still exploit you? I am just curious what your thoughts are on the matter.

Exploitation has a lot of different meanings. Some good, some bad. To exploit someone for your own benefit is a terrible thing. But to deliberately do so in a way to assist someone's talents and help them grow as a person, that's what I think can be a good exploitation.

It's a morally gray area is what I figure.

That's what I was thinking. Sometimes it changes definition to be honest.

Depends on the person themselves. Some people see exploitation as a dark territory of morality. Others, well if say for example they're using the time and effort to exploit one's singing ability to make a few albums and get popular... who knows what kind of situation there lays in there.

A good person can have bad qualities. However, I would question how genuine it would be, if they only see you as something to use.

[Yes, this may seem hypocritical from him.]
dual_wield_hax: (hmm)

That's a question only the person themselves can answer. Weak or not, it's up to them to decide on it.

No worries.

Just 'cause someone's gettin' their full use out of you don't make 'em a bad person. Especially if it don't get you hurt.

It's not normally considered exploitation if it's to be positive. Friends have uses for one another, even if it's not the entire reason their friends.

Kirito. I'm Kirito. No problem, I'm glad to have helped.

[personal profile] refinedvillian 2013-05-03 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
To a degree. It's normal to ask a friend for help, isn't it?
material_guy: (Ponder ponder ponder...)

I dunno about fair, but lettin' someone get away with it must mean you're getting something out of the deal. Or at least not losing anything.

When they help, you're using them, aren't you? Even if you return the favor, in that moment, it's a use.

...But I would be hesitant to tell you to believe them.

It does. A word can see harsh, without context.

Sometimes, good people are forced into doing bad things. [He knows it sounds like he's talking about himself but he's not. He's not a good person.]

I have seen desperation. I believe the community has shown it a bit, with Ermine.

Which one? The user or the usee?
refinedvillian: (Listening to you)

Thank you. [She really is kind.] But it doesn't do much to answer your question.

My advice would be to avoid them.
refinedvillian: (Take a seat)

[personal profile] refinedvillian 2013-05-14 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Why not?

Is she using you to make the hats? I had thought you really enjoyed it.

[personal profile] material_guy 2013-05-17 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
Nnnn... Probably. But you can't blame the exploiter for the victim bein' weak.

What is too much?

[personal profile] refinedvillian 2013-05-19 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
Even if you like the person, you don't have to let yourself be used. If you allow her, she'll continue.
