[Video] He's baaaa-aaaaaack
[Being dead is certainly an experience. A unique experience, in fact. But it also leads one to get rather lonely, what with the fact that everyone in the universe thinks that the Doctor died on Lake Silencio on that fateful day.
He’d puttered around for a while. Visited a few stars as they were born, watched others die. But talking to himself was getting rather old and he was starting to run out of conversation topics. Thus he decided to visit the one person in the universe who’d been on his mind for some time.
Which is how the TARDIS comes to materialize in the corner of a certain cell in Stormcage as viewed from what seems to be a security camera. The door creaks open and he sticks his head out with a grin] Honey. I’m home. [he pauses]Well... not technically home. But... oh you know what I mean. [He grins sheepishly and laughs]
[River puts down her diary on her lap with an impish grin. It had felt like ages since their first date. A night she’d never forget for as long as she lived.]
I was starting to wonder if you’d forgotten where I was.
[Her tone is teasing as she walks up to him. She puts a hand on the closed door, the other still holding her diary. She leans in and steals a brief kiss from him.]
Hello, Sweetie.
[Eleven smiles, looking over his wife. His wife. Yeah he hadn’t thought he’d be thinking that in this or any century. He tenses for just a moment when she kisses him, still unused to the affection. He quashes the few remaining doubts and offers her his hand.]
As if I’d ever forget. How’d you like to go for a ride. [A smirk] Unless of course you’d rather stay in tonight.
I’d love one. Where are we going this time?
[She looks absolutely pleased at the prospect of another night out. The only time she didn’t have to pretend he was dead and she was a murderer. She removes her hand from the door and places it in his.]
Where? Or when?
[He shrugs, smirk growing into a boyish grin as the gears in his head start whirring. This is the best part, after all. Not stepping out the door and seeing the new worlds. It’s deciding where to go... or whether to let the TARDIS take the reins, so to speak.]
The choices are endless. We could visit the singing mountains of Moulincrava or swim to the bottom of the Verientas Trench! Or anything in between!
Speaking of singing, I remember hearing about a place called the Singing Towers of Darillium. Ever heard of them? Or there’s the Bone Meadows, I’ve heard they’re lovely this time of year.
[Eleven’s smile falters minutely. The Singing Towers... no. No they can’t go there. He wishes he could say they could never go there but he knows that’s not an option, no. But he can keep her from them for as long as he can. He presses his lips together in a tight smile that doesn’t entirely reach his eyes.]
The Singing Towers. Yes. Yes, well, they’re brilliant but you’ve got to catch them at just the right pitch otherwise they’re rubbish. I’ll take you someday. [a beat] I promise.
[River studies him for a moment. Delight turning to curiosity as she tries to get a read on him. Failing, she smiles again and gives his a hand a squeeze.]
Well, if you promise... how about those Bone Meadows then?
[The light returns to the Doctor’s eyes as he grins. Good, yes, let’s change the subject shall we? He kisses the back of her hand, dropping it and twirling around with a laugh]
Always on the lookout for adventure, Doctor Song.
[He sweeps through the doors of the TARDIS, calling behind him] Coming, dear?
No need to ask me twice.
[With a wide grin, she steps into the TARDIS and closes the door behind her. After a couple minutes, the TARDIS dematerializes from River’s cell. But it seems the noise (or the security video) has finally alerted a guard. One comes running into view, looks around from outside the cell and hits an alarm. He swears as he picks up a phone on the wall to alert the rest of the prison guards that River Song has escaped. Again.]

[With as calm and confident in him being alive somewhere as River was, he's really not too surprised, but the thought that maybe it was just something she needed to believe no matter how unfounded did enter his mind. Time travel and the like doesn't make much sense for him.]

Yes, a few weeks or a month ago by my time. To be honest, I've lost track.

Was there any doubt?
