[The strangest thing about the video is the filter. It washes out colors and mutes sounds, making the darkness appear as if it was seen through heavy water, or perhaps fog. In the already darkened cavern it makes it almost impossible to see...until the beast-brain speaks.
Vibrant colors burst out of the darkness, the filter acting to protect the viewer...while Karakael, tiny on a hoverboat, flinches back and covers his eyes. The colors wrap and curly around the screen, bursts of beauty so intense that those sensitive might find tears prickling at their eyes even through the filter.
Karakael is not unmoved by this, but he respons to the speaker, irritation deep in his voice]
Your willingness to leave things 'to the future' is why your kind were easy prey to the Inquest in the first place!
[Another explosion of light, this time with muted sound: bells and trumpets, a perfect counterpoint to the music, weaving together perfectly. Karakael trembles, but holds on to his irriation.]
Have not enough of your kind gone mad with pain from what we have done? Beauty alone will not protect you; the war was proof enough for that. Now, will you accept my aid or not?
[This time the response is loud enough to send Karakael tumbling to his knees, vibrating the tiny boat as if in a hurricane. Kaaree stands, finally, and swears.]
Very well. Ask again when the Humans are at your doors and finding knew ways to capture and enslave your powers. Your...compassion will be your undoing.
[He spits the last sentance, irony heavy on the word 'compassion', but when he turns away there are tears in his eyes and blood trickles from his ears. One does not lightly speak to a Windbringer]
----------------
"Bloody Hell. You try to be kind, to atone for all past wrongs...and what do you get for it? A day of yelling at a damn floating brain and a bloody headache."
"You know humanity, community. Do you believe that we would stay our hand just to save perfect beauty? Or would we once again blind ourselves in our greed?"
