There are a bunch of adults on here too, right? I mean, I've talked to some of you so I know there are...

Anyway. I have a question for you guys. How did you decide what kind of thing you wanted to do when you grew up? Like, how'd you know what to study at college, or what sort of job to go for?

I joined the army right out of high school.

[...actually before he graduated high school, but shhh.]

That's pretty badass. Did you like it?

I turned out to be well-suited for it. So yeah, I guess I did.

What made you well-suited for it? [ he may or may not be trying to gather information, since joining the army was something he'd considered before until he was talked out of it ]

I was in pretty good shape, I liked the structure, and was grateful for the opportunity.

[And had lots of repressed rage.]

My dad was in the army.

How long?

Just over five years. What about you?

That's a pretty long time. Did you leave 'cause of that...other job?

Yeah.

I guess I can see why, it sounds like it'd be a pretty exciting job. Which is more dangerous, army or that?

It depends on the assignment, really.

What was the worst one you had to do? ...Wait, are you allowed to talk about that stuff?

I can't really talk about it, sorry.

It's cool. I figured that was probably the case.

So, are you heading for college?

Not yet. Maybe next year, but I didn't get into the places I wanted to do to so I'm just gonna work for a bit. Earn some money, try and figure out what I'd even pick for a major.

That's a good plan. Especially considering the cost these days.

Right? It's kind of ridiculous.
