Airbending Lesson 1 [accidental video]
[Hello Republic City Ducks! Anyone who happens to be watching the community right now is in for a rare treat - Avatar Korra trying to Airbend.]
Com'on. Work - WORK!
[The young woman goes through several smooth motions and then thrusts out her hands but nothing happens. She looks at her hands in disgust before throwing her arms to her sides in frustration.]
ARGHHHHHHHHHH! Why can't I Airbend?! What's wrong with me?!
[A rock suddenly lifts from the ground and smashes into a boulder, pulverizing the rock. The woman you have been watching begins to stalk off, muttering various comments on the element of Air and where it can go.]

She picks up the book with a scowl.]
Yeah, I'm an Earthbender. And a Firebender. And a Waterbender. Now where are all you coming from?
no subject
And that's a little harder to explain. You see, there's a place called DramaDramaDuck and it finds you and connects you and now you're stuck here. Sorry.

[YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE AVATAR?! HEATHEN!!!]
I'm the Avatar. I can bend all four elements... in theory.
[GRUMP GRUMP GRUMP - STUPID AIRBENDING]
I'm the only one who can bend all four. I'm the embodiment of the spirit of the world in human form - the bridge that connects the human world with the spirit world.
[....]
Or something like that. I really wasn't paying attention when we went over all that stuff.
[Head scratch]
DramaDrama-what?
no subject
[James shrugged.]
Sounds like fun. I'm James. James Potter. Nice to meet you Miss Avatar.
[And here comes the sigh.]
DramaDramaDuck. I'm really not the best person to explain it to you and there's plenty of others who can instead. Usually one of the Doctors turns up. He's the best. Just don't tell him I said that.
no subject
Yeah, it is.
[Long silence]
You're nuts.
no subject
[James laughed at that statement.]
Probably am I've been here so long. You'll get use to it.
no subject
[By this point, Korra is idly sitting with the book in her lap and one of her hands 'juggling' a small fire that she had summoned. It isn't meant as a way to show off - it's just something for her to do while she mulls over what James is saying in much the same way a person doodles while on the phone or something.]
How do I know this isn't some crazy new invention? This city is full of things I've never dreamed of. How do I know this isn't another one of those things and you're not hanging out somewhere in Republic City and having a laugh at my expense?
no subject
WHERE IS REPUBLIC CITY?
no subject
[Korra eyes the wand and the words, her expression one of curiosity. If you were looking for competition James you aren't going to get it. The all-powerful Avatar is now fascinated by your shiny toy.]
Wow. You non-benders come up with some of the best inventions.
[Pause]
Where? It's the capital city of the United Republic of Nations.
[DUH]
no subject
And we prefer the term, wizard. But I suppose non-bender is accurate since we can't do what you can.
[Headtilt]
Yup, never heard of it. Not surprised really. Azula never really talked about much but the Fire Nation and being Fire Lord so...
no subject
[It all looks the same to Korra - she's about as deep as a rain puddle.]
'Wizard'? What's that?
[eyeroll]
Well, that figures. Azula was the crazy sister of Fire Lord Zuko. She had no problem destroying her friends to get power and she believed all the other elements to be unnecessary and weak compared to Firebending...
[....]
Azula really gets around, doesn't she?
no subject
Wizard is what I am. I am a wizard. I'm magical!
[Nods.] Yup! That sounds like Azula. Or rather, the Azula I met when I first arrived here. She's quite different now. Not so crazy now.
I would expect she does since she's been here so long. Not to mention her feather.
no subject
[....]
Magic?
[.............]
Her feather?
no subject
[Oh dear.] Yes, magic. It's what we call the things we can do. I can do more than bend the elements. I can make this fly. Turn one thing into another. Even disappear from one place and appear in another.
And Azula has this feather that allows her to world hop. It's quite useful. Especially when I was trapped in her body for a few days. That was before Ferb gave me one for Christmas.
no subject
[Still not buying it but moving on for now.]
Okay. Sounds... interesting.
[Make things fly? Check. Turning one thing into another? Check. Disappear from one place and appear in another? Hmm, now that's actually a little impressive.]
...world hop?
no subject
A world hop? How about I show you?
[He holds up the device Ferb gave him for Christmas, grinning.] Republic City, right? On Azula original world. Shouldn't be too hard.
[He starts pressing buttons on the device.]
no subject
WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!!! I'm not where Azula is! She's in prison and the world has changed since her time! I'm not in the Fire Nation. I'm in Republic City, United Republic of Nations! Aim for the Earth Kingdom and you might stand a better chance of not getting completely lost!
[Does she believe him? Not really but on the off-chance he's telling the truth she doesn't want to be responsible for tracking down his lost behind.]
[ACTION!!!]
[And he's pressed the final button with a flourish, suddenly appearing beside her.]
Hi there!
[ACTION FOREVER]
[Annnnd now he's beside her.]
WHAT THE HEL-
[Cue jumping back and away, hands up and ready to fight]
[UNTIL JAMES GOES HOME OF COURSE AHAHA]
[He steps back, giving her some space.] Besides, I wanted to see this Republic City.
Re: [UNTIL JAMES GOES HOME OF COURSE AHAHA]
Yeah? Well, how about a little more warning next time?
[She glances up as she hears the voices of the White Lotus guards coming near.]
Oh no! Quick!
[The Avatar grabs James by the shirt collar and easily tosses him into some nearby bushes. Tact? What tact?
Several sets of footsteps approach and then a male voice -]
Avatar Korra - we heard you yell. What's wrong?
Huh? Oh, nothing guys. Nothing. I was trying to Airbend and it backfired - ended up nearly setting my hair on fire.
[There is a chorus of laughter before another male voice pipes up.]
You must be more careful, Avatar Korra.
I will be. Thanks, guys.
[Several minutes pass while Korra makes sure her personal guard is out of sight and ear-shot. She returns to the bush and plucks James out.]
That's why I didn't want you just popping up here. The White Lotus wouldn't be happy with someone popping up here that could use magic or whatever. Jeez.
Re: [UNTIL JAMES GOES HOME OF COURSE AHAHA]
Sorry. But I can understand. I've always tried to stay out of trouble too.
So, Korra is it? Suits you somehow. [And he made some different coloured sparks fly over her head.] Who are the White Lotus anyway?
no subject
Yeah. Korra. As for the White Lotus -
[And she finally gets around to putting James down.]
Those guys were the White Lotus. Well, part of the White Lotus. Long story short - they're my personal guard.
