[ This is odd, certainly odd. Reading in the water of a scrying bowl is one thing - seeing an entire computer interface on it is certainly another. It kind of kills the occult mood and Ryuutaro would complain if not for the fact that, well, there as a computer interface on his scrying bowl and even if it was an unusual sign, it was mostly certainly a sign. A sign to sign up. Ryuutaro takes several hours until he does so, though.

When the video finally starts, it's clear to see that Ryuutaro is leaning over to look down at what records the video. He taps a closed fan against his painted lips, looking thoughtful. ]

Good afternoon. Or at least, I do assume it is afternoon for whoever is receiving this - if somebody is receiving this. It must certainly be fate to receive such a strange access on nothing less than a scrying bowl. Still, even if it is, I can not help wondering what is about.

Maybe someone will be so kind and enlighten me? It would be much appreciated.

[ He smiles and opens the fan. His smile's a little too bright, just on the border to a strange kind of passive aggression just not enough to pinpoint it fully. ]

It is hard to explain, but you have managed to connect to a "community" that crosses many worlds and times.

[ It takes Ryuutaro a moment to acknowledge that writing being transferred over this strange connection works as well - but in truth it's very much to his liking. Much more mystical. Writing with one's fingertip into water is weird, but after a little while he replies in text. ]

The only time I was able to connect to before was the future and never this directly... Do you know why people are chosen for this link?

It appears to be the same for me. Many of the people I have met are from over one hundred years in my future.

I am sorry, but I do not know how anyone is chosen. But strange things happen to those it is connected to.

This brings two questions for me:

1.) Which year is it, where you are?

2.) Would you like to elaborate on the 'strange things'?

It is 1878, and I am in Tokyo. As for strange things, recently, I discovered two items that belonged to someone who had died ten years ago just in the road ahead of me. And another time, just a little while ago, we were transported to a feast for a festival called Thanksgiving.

[ Classic Japan. Classic Japan. Sadly - or maybe luckily - this is text, because Ryuutaro's eyes sparkle with new-found interest at this point. ]

An interesting time. I cannot say I am anywhere close to it, however. It is 2011 for me, although I am close to the same area.

This network seems to have side effects beyond what I had considered possible.

I am slowly getting used to people coming from far in the future.

It is extremely strange and very unpredictable.

And I suppose there is no other way than to get used to it?

With the persistence of this window I am using right now, I can not imagine signing off is an easy task.

Not really, no.

I use a book, so it is easier to ignore. But I have heard that the community eventually loses interest and will let people go for the time being.

A book indeed sounds more practical. Although, I admit I would have been more skeptical had it appeared anywhere else for me, so I suppose there is a reason.

This is a temporal connection then?

I believe so. Much more time seems to be passing for others than it is for me.
