Injuries
Asking the community: Is it heat or cold for bruising?
Before anyone asks, it's for a friend, obviously.
[Locked to Noah Family]
Anyone have an ice pack they could lend me?
[/locked]
[Locked to Johnny]
...ow. I didn't know you could bruise there.
When do we get to play with real swords?
[/locked]
((OOC: both locks hackable by someone with technical skill. Tyki's not that great with computers yet.))

Yet be assured the previous comments were truthful; cold is for swelling, heat for muscular ache.
Forgive my inquiry, for you do not seem the sort to accidentally injure another person so frivolously.
At least by a bruising.Would it seem too prying to ask how this effect was rendered?(( Strikes are deleted text; hackable ))

Well, okay, I guess you got a little bitten. But that wasn't intentional, and I'm sure it's healed by now.
[locked]Actually, it was me who got injured, but I'd prefer that not become general knowledge.[/locked]
[Locked to Tyki // Hackable due to shitty equiptment]
At least with any sort of ease on your assailant's part. Does the individual yet live, or had you allowed yourself to be injured intentionally?

Apply a cold compress to the bruise'20 minutes on, 20 minutes off'as often as you can for the first day or two. The cold will constrict blood vessels and help keep the bruise from spreading. Never apply ice directly to the skin. Always use an ice pack or a cold compress.
You should avoid aspirin until the bruise has started to heal. Aspirin is an anticoagulant, which prevents blood from clotting as quickly. Blood that does not clot spreads more extensively underneath the skin. But you ca take acetaminophen for pain. This does not affect clotting.
Then you can apply a warm, wet compress after the first 48 hours to reduce pain and swelling. Heat is recommended once the blood has stopped spreading around the bruise. Heat dilates blood vessels, which will help speed the sweeping away of blood cells from around the ruptured vessels.
I play fencing, that’s why I’m used to bruises. Can I ask how you get hurt?
(OOC: Sorry about the long explanation, but Hakuba is like that when you ask him something XD)

Thank you, Hakuba. That's more than I ever wanted to know ;) And you can call me Tyki, please.
It wasn't me that was hurt, but thank you for the concern.

Welcome, and sorry, I talk too much sometimes. But knowledge is power, right? Good to know you're ok, if you need more help just give me a call.

I hope this will help:
"A cold compress such as an icepack or a bag of frozen peas should be applied to the affected area for 20-30 minutes in order to speed healing and reduce swelling. Do not apply ice directly to the skin. Wrap the icepack in a towel." Found here. (http://firstaid.webmd.com/bruises_treatment_firstaid.htm)

But thank you for the advice. I'm sure he'll be right as rain soon enough.
