First Day Back of Work

Very well. I have been long convinced your community does somehow facilitate communication between various worlds, and individuals within it may or may not have the ability to traverse between them. Please allow me to submit an apology for claiming the journals and information contained here were somehow fabricated. Without sufficient knowledge I judged harshly.

This morning I begin the first day back at work within the station here. Soon after situating my meager possessions within my dormitory, I was alerted to a half-dozen messages requesting assistance with broken or faulty equipment. Amazing when you live in a world which relies on machinery to keep you alive; something is always breaking down somewhere, surely moments away from placing us all into inevitable peril.

Yet, one supposes, is it not similar to how life progresses anywhere else? Except those mechanics are your civics; wars and diseases, civil unrest and natural disasters. Those are alarms of a nature your elected or self-appointed representatives within your government must deal with. Suddenly I am satisfied with repairing cooling ducts alone.

So now I have developed a trivial inquiry, but this forum seems full of them, so I hope one more will not burden it. What is it that you do, fellow members? What jobs do you preform, and how do they affect the world around you?

I suppose this means I will be sticking around.

It's a necessary job, and not perhaps the most thrilling of occupations. Yet many individuals find it a rewarding one.

Well, originally I wanted to do, like, cars and stuff, like my dad. But Ratchet says he's willing to teach me Cybertronian medicine, so hopefully I'll get to do that!

Pardon my ignorance, yet I fear I will need more context in order to understand quite what you hope to do. The type of mechanic you wish to be is ... a medical one? Such as someone who specializes in cybernetics?

Well. Men such as you only would seem to exist within my reality as a tale to appease children or figments of mad men's imaginations. Yet here we are, conversing with one another. It may have taken a moment for me to adapt to the illogic of the situation.

'Recovery service' is about as vague of a job description as I've heard among the circles of bureaucracy. What is it, exactly, do you recover?

Biological research. I experiment with both living and dead specimens, though I prefer them live. Easier to test hypotheses and functionality when they're alive.

As for my job, I'm a delivery man. Not quite sure how it fits into "the big picture" but I like to think that what I do matters to my clients, which is enough for me.

Despite my current circumstances, I do agree with you. Sometimes, the personal satisfaction of the lives you affect is all one needs.

Well, technology in my world is quite advanced. It's wound its way into every bit of daily life, to the point where the area I live in is considered a utopia of technology. The Outlands, however...

The biggest advance, I suppose, are the joining of humans and Reploids into one "race" called Humanoids, because the distinguishing characteristics between the two are quite blurry now. (And as I've met many who're unfamiliar with the term "Reploid," it's robot that's totally independent, that can think and act for itself rather than on a programmed path.)


As for the comment you make about personal satisfaction, that's very true. If I could, I'd devote my life to making people happy, especially two small children I take care even if one of them is hellbent on breaking everything I own.

Your governments and organizations are not something I have known, as we hail from different realities. Yet mechanized armor is ... I have been well educated in the matter.

Also, I possess a high interest in the subject. Are you permitted by your organization to share further details? Let it be known I have no practical use for such information, I merely happen to be curious. However, should you doubt my motives or feel bound by restrictions of your government to secrecy, I will understand perfectly.
