away and over the sea i go

Well, Jeeves and I have made a bit of a trip over to the colonies to reside there for a while.  Discretion, as the old saw has it, is often the better part of valour, and though the fighting blood does undoubtedly run thick in the Wooster veins, in this particular instance, I thought it better to beat a hasty retreat.  A stampeding horde of sewage-covered chums and relations does have that power over me.  Justified, I like to think, especially when that horde includes my fearsome Aunt A- she who bears more resemblance to a mastadon bellowing o'er primeval swamps than she does to any human woman- and one Spode, recently Earl of Sidcup.  Spode is an amateur dictator, and while his dial does rather remind one of a potato with a fly squashed on its upper lip, he has on many an occasion threatened to rip my spine out and beat me over the coconut with it.

But I digress.  In order to escape the wrath of the aforementioned Spode, aunt, and various Bassets, Fink-Nottles, and Glossops, Jeeves and I shall be living in New York for some time.  Back to my usual haunt when abiding there- the Stuyvesant Towers in downtown Manhattan, right at the heart of the Big Apple.  It's a fine locale; there's a lot to be said for New York City, I find.  I sometimes think I could settle down there permanently- even despite the rum thing they call 'prohibition'- but the call to the old homestead is too strong in the Wooster veins.

If anyone cares to come visit, you'd be a welcome guest in my humble abode.  Miss River, I've not seen you in a dashed long time; and let me tell you, New York has some positively popping dance clubs.  All the new stuff's starting over here- ragtime and boogie and that lot.  I rather think you'd like it.

You're in New York? How wonderful!

Oh yes! Isn't it lovely here?

It's not the same New York then? What is yours like?

I wouldn't know really...I've never seen most of the things that are here in New York. Andalasia was much more...simple.

No, I came to New York a few months ago from Andalasia. It is a very strange place, but I love it all the same.

Syncopation. The time isn't linear.

[ooc: Breaking hiatus for the birthday girl. ♥ ]

At times the most prudent action is to withdraw and chose a more opportune time, shall we say, to engage those who may oppose you.

I am intrigued by your offer of welcome, yet I have no means on my own to travel outside of my own reality. However, if you do not mind satisfying my curiosity, from what year do you call your own?

Perhaps I may find some manner of assistance in the future, should your offer remain open. I am quite certain details of history have been lost over the traverse of time, yet from information I recall I agree with your assessment.

Let me assure you, however; all eras and the ages within them have their idealogical flaws. Even a 'golden age' had only acquired its glinting finish in retrospect.

[[Did I see mention of birthday?]]

Ah, New York, New York: so good they named it twice and all that. Personally I think it is the finest place in the world to live.

Yup, a bit small for my liking though.

Well I like Paris too, but New York is home, man.

One must wonder upon the bestowing of nicknames for cities. I for one, would rather not live in the center of a giant fruit.
