So this is "Queen" ?

It's amazing the things I've been able to find on this system. It's a treasure trove of old data.

Look at this. Pure 20th century musical masterwork. I've never heard a vocalist quite like the man. I do believe I'll play this for the girls on the ship.

Truly, they knew good sound back then. The music in my time is far from being this polished or energetic.

Queen? Thats amazing, we don't have anything that sounds anything like that on my world..

((Blargh, no icons that accurately express..expression.))

Quite the charmer aren't you?

[identity profile] short-n-loud.livejournal.com 2008-08-31 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
Even greater than the music you found?

That is absolutely corny.

Oh, that is absolutely classic. That's one of the things that is... brilliant about the seventies. All the music is fantastic, absolutely all of it. You ever heard of David Bowie?

Decide for yourself.

Classic, though. Bowie... Bowie's been around for ages. That one, Life on Mars, that was just from when he was starting to get big. Some of his best stuff, I think, but really, it's all good.

It is, yeah. He's a complete chameleon though, is the great thing; you look at some of his stuff from later on, and you'd never guess it was the same bloke. Except for the voice; no-one else has a voice quite like Bowie.

((OOC: Fanboy much?))

Maturity of the overall aesthetics aside, the lead vocal is indeed impressive. Even within an operatic setting, such a range would be highly valued within a male voice.

When watching the related videos, it seems unfortunate he did not branch out into more serious musical disciplines. He seems to be mostly a true countertenor, with little use of falsetto.

Not bad, man. Definitely one of the classics.

((DAMMIT, QUIT PINGING MY SOL-MUSE. xD He will be applied for soon, though, so hopefully it'll be sated.))

Definitely one of the good songs.

they're not bad bards!

most bards I meet deserve to be strangled with the strings of their own instrument.

... its good to find a decent one.
