Hello, everyone. My name is-- you know what? Forget it. Just call me Kyon. Everyone calls me that anyway.

I am what you would call an absolutely normal high school student. I go to an average public school, I have average grades, an average appearance and have average hobbies… sort of.
"Sort of"? Who am I trying to kid?

I suppose that, like any high school student, it is normal for me to take part in extracurricular activities. It’s there where things start getting annoyingly weird. Which is quite an understatement.

My only extracurricular activity, one that is very time-consuming, is my commitment to the SOS Brigade, a club started by the most eccentric girl I’ve ever met, Haruhi Suzumiya. It’s a club that’s…dedicated to finding and befriending aliens, time-travelers and espers.

…I am sadly, not joking.

Sigh. Things get very complicated after that.

Well, I can see how that's true. I was pretty used to my uneventful life until Haruhi came along and sent me into a loop. I much prefer the way things are now, compared to how they were before. I imagine it's the same for you, right?

I'm actually in a situation similar to that. It's difficult to tell whether or not everything is a coincidence, but I can understand how it feels to be around someone who can alter the world you live in.

Well, I suppose that’s one of the reasons why it’s possible that Haruhi isn’t a god. There was a theory that maybe she was given those abilities by “the God” or something. It’s very complicated.
Though, as long as you’re a god, I suppose rules are pretty meaningless. You can probably bend and break the rules, only they won’t be broken because they’ve been rewritten however is convenient.

Koizumi would have a party over a conversation like this. World-altering theories are his specialty.
