Though surely this community tires of such inquiries around the holiday, I have a slightly different question to pose to individuals here.

Let us suppose one is in a secure and long-term relationship with another individual. Let us also assume these individuals are not overly fond of the traditional.

What, if any, gift would be appropriate between such upon Saint Valentine's?

Replies suggesting events of a lewd or otherwise sexual nature will not be appreciated, and in fact will be ignored with great prejudice.

From what I have observed of this holiday, humans tend to give their lovers small edible treats called chocolates, red roses and things called cards.

Such traditional gifts were ones I had specifically intended to avoid.

Yet your observations are factually correct.

Alright. maybe a....teddy bear, some favourite music or books or the gesture of a romantic dinner?

I think a plush animal would be a little age inappropriate.

Yet the other suggestions sound to be rather helpful.

Well, as I know just about nothing about the two lovers involved, I'm not certain what other things could be given or done.

If you are not the traditional type and don't like to go for the chocolate and flowers things..what if you give him tickets for the opera or some kind of spectacle that both might like? or what about a trip?

A trip seems to be a delightful suggestion, if only my schedule was not so inexcusably hectic.

Perhaps tickets to some sort of event would be ideal. I thank you for such a suggestion.

I think the whole thing is a bit tiresome. Why bother if you're not interested in the traditional? You should do things for your lover because you love them, not because there's some particular day designated for it.

Offended? No, I wouldn't be offended.

Of course, my lover is very appreciative of me on a daily basis. I have no fears about the depth of his love. My point was that if I did not get something, I would not be upset or think that he did not love me. That's ridiculous. And so he should not feel compelled just because there is a holiday.

Your lover may not feel the same way. I have no idea.
