Tell me, Drama Drama Duck.

What do you consider the true source of power? Do you believe it better to rule through fear? Force? Loyalty? Love?

...and I suppose it is only fair that I answer my own question. [Chuckle.] Rule through fear, rule through force, are, in my experience, the best ways to assert your dominance over your troops. However... having those who are truly loyal to you is always something that should not be overlooked, for they will stand by you when all of the other weaklings slink off into the night.

A combination of the first three is best. Ensure that your subjects follow you for good reason and make sure that they have something to gain, but never let them forget the punishment for treachery.

I agree with this.

Loyalty and force, Lord.

While fear and force are effective in small doses, in my experience it only breeds malcontent.

Inspiring loyalty with charisma and one's deeds, and sharing power where it will seal those who wish a taste of it to you, is far more effective and has served my family for generations.

An interesting question, and while we are led by another, I will give a hypothetical answer.

Loyalty and force, but with respect (one earns more loyalty that way) as well.

Loyalty of course, and teamwork.

It seems to me that force is really all that's needed. If that's done right then things such as fear or loyalty will just follow naturally.

I've always ruled my kingdom with love and friendship, and it's worked for a long time now~!

I've got a bottle here that won't open. Think you can do the....

Prime leads by example. We all follow him because we want to, not because we're afraid of him.

I do not think ruling by force and fear leads to anything but misery.

Sounds like a dumb way ta lead.

Fear and force only creates a false power. When you have the loyalty and trust of those who follow you, that creates true power.

[identity profile] autobot-girl.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Gee... Why am I not surprised that you think fear is power?

[identity profile] shia-o-shima.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
... I'm not sure anymore.

[identity profile] fuzzyrat.livejournal.com 2009-02-12 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Yeeeeeeah I'm going to have to say loyalty. Nothing good comes from traitors.

I once thought that power was the best way to rule a galaxy. Now I am not so sure. But power creates fear, but at the same time trust and the belief that the government will be able to protect its citizens. Yet no government can truly survive without compassion love...
