I like the action. It makes me feel useful, I can actually see that I'm making a difference. And, I get to go topside as frequently as I see fit.

If I accept, I'll be stuck at a desk doing administrative work and chances of me getting a pass to hit the surface would be slim to none.

I'd be doing administrative work if I were promoted, right now I work in the field. I'm a police officer.
