Mostly religious. I happen to be a monk, but if I weren't, I would likely believe in it regardless.

It's... comforting, I think, to know that pain in this world is temporary. One can begin from the lowest point and, over many lifetimes, reach enlightenment and end one's pain. There are always second chances.

Lately, of course, my belief has been somewhat shaped by asking people who would know. It isn't quite the Buddhist depiction of it, but what happens on my world is reincarnation nonetheless.

It's more of a belief than I've ever had, that's for sure. I always sort of thought the spirit died with the body. At least for my kind. Humans might still have their chance at Heaven and Hell. I can't say for sure.

Maybe if I forgot the previous life, then reincarnation would be nice. Otherwise all I could think about was how long that life was and the fact that I have to do it all over again.

I've got a friend who's in a situation sort of like that. He uploaded his mind into a computer. He's still paranoid, though.
