Let's say that you were once a soldier. A good one, competent but you didn't enjoy it. You have a group of people that you...live with and you'd do anything for.

You stop fighting, give up your previous life for their benefit. It goes well then...you hear rumors of monsters, powerful ones, coming into the area. You're the only one with fighting experience but you're out of practice. Terribly so.

What's the...right course of action?

Practice, or ask for help. Probably both at the same time.

If that fails, you'll need to get everybody someplace safe until the threat passes.
