I come here today to ask you two questions that I believe are integral to the understanding of the human condition.

The first: are wet paint signs truly necessary? After all, few people are likely to touch a wall or a gate for no reason; however, as soon as a sign is placed, people are seized with an overwhelming urge to touch the paint and see if it is, in fact, wet. Does this speak to our natural curiosity, the irony of directions, or a very intelligent, very sadistic signmaker? Or perhaps it balances out-- the amount of people who would innocently lean against a wall while waiting for a bus and get paint on their jackets decrease, while the amount of people who touch a wall and merely get their fingers a little dirty increase. Is it a case of the lesser of two evils?

The second: assuming that there is a human somewhere in this vast and nonsensical universe who managed not to see the sign in time, how does one remove paint from suede?

Scrape off whatever you can and then make this soap and kinda warm water mix. Soap's gotta be mild. Put suds on the paint and that should do it. Don't put the water and stuff on it or you'll ruin your suede...whatever.

No problem. Lemme know if something gets screwed up.

Mon dieu, "wet paint" signs? Porquois? Non, I see no reason for one, but then again l'artiste here paint massive paintings. When we are not in a state of turmoil, of course.

Ah, d'accord. It must be something used in the future, then.

I think you answered your own question. I doubt there is any psychological depth to "wet paint" signs other than to say, for example "hey, don't sit on this bench, if you do you'll walk around with stripes on your back end all day. People will laugh at you and you won't know why...then your ego will deflate and no one will ever go out with you. So don't sit on the wet paint." Same goes for walls and gates, it's just a warning.

What kind of paint is it?

Never had the pleasure, but I will say this, skin is one of the most washable surfaces on the planet. I'd rather touch than sit or lean.

Hmm...well, you might be better off dying your shoes. Suede is a very tricky fabric especially with dried paint. If it's latex it might not even come out entirely.

Apparently, they are necessary.

You probably just needed to pay more attention.

[identity profile] drcuddles.livejournal.com 2010-04-24 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you sit on the bench just to defy the "wet paint" sign?

[identity profile] drcuddles.livejournal.com 2010-04-25 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
So, you willingly sat in wet paint?

[personal profile] pandorabox 2010-04-24 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
... did you lean against a wall while waiting for a bus and get paint on your jacket?

Get somebody to clean it for you?

You buy somebody a pony, and suddenly everyone wants handouts.
