[On the bed, Edward stirs finally. He had been heavily sedated to recover from the fight, and to avoid running back in. He groaned softly and opened his eyes, only to come face to face with the barrel of a gun.]

You startled me. [Came the unhappy voice of his twin.]

[Golden eyes wide, Edward stares in disbelief as the gun is withdrawn.] You're lucky Lieutenant Colonel Keehl ordered me to treat you like an ally even though, you're nothing but trash that needs to be taken out. [The twin grabs his broken automail and shakes it visciously] What kind of broken down excuse for a soldier are you?

[Edward frowns at him, but instead of directing his questions at the maniac sitting next to him on the bed, sharpening a knife, he checks out his device which is clearly recording.]

Jus' why am I sitting here threatening myself? [He sounds groggy and quite out of it, the sedatives making it so he hasn't even started to sit up yet.]

[Fortunately by the time Al can get in there, Mello has abandoned the evil twin near Drachma.]

[D'aaaaaaaaaaaaaw, Al wanted to kick his ass first.]

[Edward shifts until he's sitting up now, looking drowsy. That shaking has made his arm stop moving. He frowns at it. Dead weight.]

Be careful, you're not 100% yet!

[Al helps him sit, big hands bracing his brother's frame gently.] We need to make you a sling for that arm, too.

If you bring me one, I'll tie it.

[Edward leans back on the pillows, settled in comfortably enough.] I feel alright, just tired.

You should stay in bed a little longer.

[It's worth trying, right? Not that he expects Ed to listen.]

Until I wake up more, yeah. I was drugged right?

Yeah.

[And he'll take responsibility for it. It was Mello's idea, but he let the other man do so.]

[Edward frowns because he doesn't like this, but he vaguely remembers what happened and it would have hurt to wake up from that.]

It's over now. [He swallows to get the cottony taste out of his mouth.]

[Oh! Oh oh oh, Al has water! He anticipated that, even if he's forgotten what it feels like.]

Here, Brother.

[He hands the water glass to Ed's good hand: ready to catch it if it falls, but not about to insult his brother by implying that it will.]

[Ed folds his fingers around the glass and brings it up to sip at it. He knows not to gulp it down. It seems to do the trick and he smiles.]

Thanks Al. [The glass is offered back.]

[And Al takes it.]

What's going on?

[Ed asked, blinking at Al.] I wake up and this other me has a gun in my face.

It was a virus. Mello took care of the other you.

Weird virus.

[Edward yawns a little and smiles a bit.] Get me a sling, Al?

[But before he can go, he grabs sluggishly at Al's arm, closing his fingers over one of Al's.] I'm...we're in this together Al. Forever.

Sure, Brother, I think we've got one from the last time you wrecked your arm.

[You know. Last week. But then he pauses when Ed reaches for him, his eyes lighting up.]

Stupid. Of course we are.

Right.

[Ed lets go of him so he can go and get the sling, sinking back down into the bed.]

[Wisely holds his tongue about his opinion that Ed should sleep, gdit. But fluffs some pillows!]

[Ed wasn't open to those suggestions anyway, and when the sling comes to him, he ties it expertly around his shoulder and tightens it to keep his automail in place.] There.

You spend too much time wearing those, Brother.
