Before we get too much into the Christmas spirit, I have to point out that it is, in fact, already Hanukkah. Most of us don't celebrate it - in fact, there many not actually be any Jews on this community, I haven't encountered one - but as a country I have an obligation to provide for all of my people.

This is traditionally the part where I ask a question. What religions are there on your world, and what do you think of the ones you don't celebrate?

Do you believe that they can?

I have to believe in them. I have to believe they'll stop the military's plans, and that they'll come back home to me.

I can understand that.

Mm. I guess a lot of people could.

Are many people supporting them?

I'm helping spread the word that they're...what's the word? Mobilizing. I don't know how much support they'll have. The Ishbalans will help, I know. And Mrs. Curtis is going to the Briggs Mountains to let the troops there know. Al and Mr. Hohenheim are rallying some people in the northeast.

The battle will happen on a the day of an eclipse coming in the spring. It's...they call it the 'Promised Day'.

I hope all goes well, but I can't realistically expect that.

They have to win, or my country dies. [Gentle, but stern.]

Even if they win, it won't be perfect.

No, I understand that. I don't expect perfection!

And that could involve losing some of them.

I know! [A little sharp there but Winry gets her voice under control.] My parents didn't come back from the war.
