Part of our duties as a shinigami is to ensure the security of the souls of humans. The risk of this conversion is have the chain of fate disappear and the plus soul turning itself into a hollow. If such is the case, your earthly body will be no more and your soul will be cleansed and sent to Soul Society.
Yeah, that's what Kisuke told me. See, part of my job is already to find and stop people who are messing with the cycles of life and death and purify corrupt souls, allowing the innocent souls they've devoured to be sent on to the afterlife.
That's what I do, and what I train others to do at Shibusen. I work for a shinigami, in my own world. In my world, it's impossible to become a shinigami if you're not born one, though, so I'm intrigued by this option.
Did he inform you that the first time that he did the conversion, I had left a human in a shinigami form to die? If you perform this conversion, you will be marked and you will be monitored not just by the Gotei 13, but by others. Chances of your death increase.
If you possess unnatural levels of reiatsu, once you are dead you can apply at the academy.
He didn't mention any of that. I don't see why any of you should monitor me, though. I'd like to do this to give me an edge in my own world. I have nothing to do with yours.
I doubt that, since I'll go to my own afterlife, not yours. Presumably.
It would depend on who cleanses your soul. If you are cleansed by a shinigami of Soul Society, you will be placed under special watch. Two of my squad members are an example of this.
No, you do not turn into a shinigami. The moment that a plus soul is buried - or cleansed - it goes to either Soul Society where it lives before it returns to the cycle or hell where the soul is destroyed.
A plus soul can become a shinigami if it possesses a high level of spiritual pressure or awareness. Or, if you are born into Soul Society with high pressure, as in the case of the Four Great Houses.
Okay, well don't you think the natural laws of my own world will hold sway in that case? My soul will separate from my corpse and be brought to Shinigami-sama, for him to do...whatever he does with all the souls we bring him.
The discovery of shinigami and their functions in different worlds is a reason for the open hostility. However, if you are made into a shinigami on our world and you possess our powers, that is an entirely different thing.
I suppose it could divert my path. Not that it really matters to me. After I die, I'll be dead. It's a whole new world to discover either way, or simple oblivion and I can't complain.

In the best scenario.
