[video] decorating!!!

[ lash turns on the video, and you get a screen full of hair and small face. She peers intently into the screen, trying to adjust it juuuust right. She takes a step back and now you can see the room. It's messy, with bits of machinery and stuff strewn about the room. The workplace of a child genius, lol.

In the center of the room, there's a
large, ball-shaped robot sitting on its butt. It looks almost...scared? It keeps swiveling around to look at Lash as she paces around the room to look for tools and decorations. There's already a giant red bow stuck to the side of the robot's head. ]

It's sooo not fair. I don't wanna do any work on Christmas! Maybe I'll pretend to be sick...

But hey, at least they put me in charge of decorations around the base! Like I'm really gonna do ALL that work by myself, but I still get a little section of the place and decorating stuff is fun sometimes. It's a breather from the usual work, y'know? See? I'm decorating Jugger, too! Doesn't he looked like, a hundred times better already?

[ jugger protests, his mechanical voice cutting in ]

Jugger is not a tree. Jugger hates Christmas because of Lash...

[ lash just wraps a long line of tinsel around the machine, teeheehee-ing the entire time ]

Quit complainin', and sit pretty! You're totally gonna be our tree since there really aren't that many trees around here in Omegaland. They're all dried up, teeheehee! That's partially our fault, but whatever, right? So-- [ turning back to the camera ] HE'S gonna be the tree! It'll be perfect! Even my CO can't say 'no' to that!

[ the feed goes for a while until she finally puts the last bit of decoration on the poor robot: the star, right on the top of his head. ]

And we're alllll done! Bye, now! [ feed shuts off ]

Have you considered purchasing an artificial tree?

It does seem to have a rather decorative feel to it in general.

Much like a very large bauble.

That would depend on its job-

and it is Christmas, isn't it? Taking a break from work is a part of that.

World War One, Christmas of 1914. A large number of various troops in trenches spontaneously declared unofficial truce over the Christmas period, even going so far as to giving each other gifts and exchanging addresses, with promises to write when the war was over.

War is chaos. You never know what will happen next.

Oh yes. I'm still new to the alternate worlds part of all this. But I'm sure the name tells you just how big it was. And I should think the troops in World War One would have said the same-but then, they ended up singing and dancing and drinking and playing football together. I suppose you can't take anything for an absolute.

Agreed. Getting worked up at this point of the year would just set a bad tone for the next.

We have had two World Wars, although they haven't literally been the entire world warring each other. It is just a war of enough magnitude to effect everyone.

An interesting position for a commander to take, but I'm sure it is appreciated.

I am going to make a wild guess and assume you mean this literally?

Too good to be true? That's an interesting perspective.

Oh really? Can I pry as to what it is?

I see. Well, World War Two has occasionally been called the 'Last Great Drama', as some consider it to be the last war in which it was clearly 'good guys' versus 'bad guys.' I always wondered if those on the 'bad' side thought of themselves as such. Do you? Think of yourself as bad, that is.

I suppose I'll just have to wait in anticipation and hope then.

Well, the honesty is nice if nothing else.

Then I look forward to it.

I don't believe I've introduced myself. My name is Grimoire. Lovely to meet you.
