My grandfather and I traveled around a lot, so I didn't have that many toys.
I do remember there was one town we stayed in for a few months, in the winter. There wasn't much to do besides stay inside, it was that cold, so he carved me a wooden sword and then made himself a bigger one... he started to teach me how to use a real sword then, though at the time I thought we were just playing Knights and Bandits.
So I guess it was that sword. It definitely had the most memories attached to it.
A sword? I know kids get toy weapons all the time, but I've never heard of a grandparent teaching someone how to use a real weapon with them. Do you need weapons, where you're from?
Really? What do you have? And playing tag is fun too, Andy and his friends would take us sometimes when they went out to play. I was pretty good, with Andy's help.
Stuffed animals are always good. I know a lot of kids like them because you can pretend they're a superhero but they're still super soft when you go to bed.
I did not have many toys as a child. We mostly played with whatever came to hand - whether that be stones or discarded crates. Sometimes we could scrounge broken toys from the richer children...but that was rare.
