Uh, it's called an airplane. Or a car. They're like ... [ how does she shot explanation. ] I guess an airplane's like a really, really fast flying boat.

And a car is ... like a carriage. Do you know what that is? Like. Horses lead them and -- anyway. It's a carriage that's mechanical and moves itself. Also fast. Cars are supposed to have the power of like several hundred horses or ... whatever.

I've never really had to explain this before. [ and it shows. horribly. ]

Cars, yes. But planes are owned by companies and people just buy seats on them when they need to go somewhere. Not everyone needs to own like a 200-passenger plane.

How does it stay in the air without air-bending though?

It's mechanical. I don't know the exact science behind it, but it has an engine that powers the propellers to keep it in the air.

That's incredible. Is it scary being up that high? I mean, I assume with something that big you'd have to go up really high for the air to support you.

Sometimes riding on Appa is scary. I mean, not for me, but. For Katara.

A lot of people get freaked out on them, but it doesn't bother me. I mean, yeah, they go about a mile up, but they're sturdy and you're basically just in a really high up room with the way they're built. More people die, like, walking down the street than they do in plane crashes every year.

Mechanical malfunctions, terrorists, I don't know. Lots of reasons. But, they're really rare, so there's no point worrying about it.
