[The feed opens onto a tree. The branches are flailing about until rock hits a knot on the bottom and it stills. James enters the picture and dives into a tunnel beside the knot on the tree.

A few minutes later, he emerges again. But he's not alone. A boy with greasy black hair is following him, yelling and looking very angry and confused. James pushes him towards the castle and they disappear as the feed ends.]

[Lily didn't see this until after she got back from doing rounds, so the next morning, she was up bright and early and waited in the common room for the sole purpose of cornering James to badger him about what happened. So she's sitting near the entrance to the boy's dormitory stairs with her book on her lap.]

[James slept in as long as he could before getting up. Before heading downstairs, or even opening his curtains, he checked the map. He saw Lily was sitting at the bottom of the stairs and sighed. This was going to be difficult. But he dressed quickly and headed down, trying to slip past her without interrogation to go to breakfast.]

[She was not going to be given the slip that easily. She had been sitting there for about an hour or two and was getting hungry and slightly grumpy. So as soon as she saw him slipping out, she darted over to put herself between him and the portrait hole.]

Hold on a second there, Potter! I want to know exactly what happened last night.

[James had checked the book before coming down and knew exactly what she was talking about but he didn't answer. He simply tried to gently moved her aside so he could get to his breakfast.]

[James almost told her that is was all Sirius' idea. He'd deserve the ear bashing. But as angry as he was with his friend, he'd never betray him. So he just shrugged and kept trying to go to breakfast.]
