What makes someone a bad friend?

[identity profile] ton-elloran.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Why do you ask?

[identity profile] curajas.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose if they lie intentionally to hurt them, for starters.

I mean, that's just the start, isn't it? After someone does that, who knows what they'll do?

Disloyalty, lying to them, backstabbing... too many things to count, really.

It's not so bad if it isn't intentional, I don't think. But if the friend is still hurt and upset, maybe try to undo whatever it is that hurt them? Or do something to make up for it? Apologizing usually works pretty well.

Have you tried apologizing?

[identity profile] negative-five.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Have you considered their point of view in this at all?

[identity profile] negative-five.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
After you... hurt them?

[identity profile] curajas.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess sometimes... I don't know.

[identity profile] negative-five.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, I'm confused. Are they the bad friend, or are you?

[identity profile] negative-five.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Then why are you friends?

[identity profile] negative-five.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
You could just try apologizing to each other.

I don't quite know, but hear me out, okay? I guess being a friend is a lot like trying to make a garden grow in the worst conditions. Sometimes plants die, sometimes they flourish. All a person can do is tend to the seeds, right? Just keep at it. It's hard when it doesn't turn out right but sometimes there just isn't a reason.
