0003 [video] Going old school
[And so after weeks of not showing up in the community due to constant missions, the camera clicks on. It's clean, as usual, but the man that is usually on this frequency. There is a grand piano farther down the room, an empty seat in front of it, books laying there, waiting to be studied. After a few minutes, a familiar figure shows up, the veteran walking towards the seat. He places a hand on one of the keyes, the tune resounding on the room. A smile shows up, and he looks around again, apparently ignoring the fact that his camera is recording this.]
Alright... Let's see...
[With silent steps, he sits by the piano, gently removing the books and placing them on the floor. His fingers start playing a slow tune first, moving to another one that his daughter usually plays. Then he stops, his fingers moving more and more quickly all the sudden, a smirk appearing on his face. He starts humming to the song, sometimes singing it, and pretty much going crazy by now...
Still... he hasn't noticed the camera when he gets up, one socked foot on the piano while still playing.]
((OOC: Give the fact that his hearing mechanism is... in his head basically... he'll be able to hear you while playing. If you text, he'll reply as soon as he finishes.))

Roze?
[His expression turns into a smile, though, as he relaxes back on the chair, but continues to look at the camera.]
La Grange has to be my favorite... [He shrugs.] Old school Rock N' Roll... Kids these days don't seem to actually get it, you know?

Do you do that often?

From time to time, when my daughter is not hugging the piano.
[Video - but he's silent until near the end]

I'll take in mind not taking my OPSAT to the bathroom with me.
[He looks back, green eyes setting on the device and smiles when he sees the younger man's face.]
No. Not really.
[He points to the books, resting over the piano keys.]
Living in a... more than just rural place made it hard for me to find a teacher that would come all the way to teach my daughter. She's better than me now.

It ain't that bad. A lot of practice and discipline... but I guess if you do like the instrument, you shouldn't have any problems in learning it.
[He makes a face and sighs.]
If the piano is your thing, or the guitar for that matter, I could help you with either of them anytime I'm not away dodging bullets thanks to my job.

Singing is not my MO. My daughter says I could try... with some practice. Not that bad at the Rock N' Roll department, but not The King, either, if you understand.

[So sheltered...]

Let's see how this goes...
[The intro runs smoothly with tunes that could only have been achieved through The Blues. And finally he shrugs and starts singing something quite like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCqv734n7Wk).]

Elvis Presley. The King of Rock N' Roll, my community friend. The King.

I haven't heard of him but then, everybody had number names in my world - even the great inventors or old musicians. Like... Oh, I heard 1756 is known at Mozart in other places.

Greed...
[He turns around, facing the camera.]
I didn't... "hit myself"... as an artsy type either. Kids make you do things you thought you were incapable of.
[There's more to the innocent smile he's giving when he says those words. He looks away from the camera, fingers toying with the range of keys from C minor.]
Do you have any children?
None. If you're a guy who likes kids, you'd probably be obligated to come over and take 'em away if I did. Last time we had a kid around here, I went and tried to liquor 'em up.
So, what, you practicing for a recital for some kid?
I doubt La Grange would be such a nice song for a kid's recital. No.
[He plays one key loud enough with barely any effort from his finger and looks back at the camera momentarily.]
My daughter's piano. She left for college. Can't really take a grand to college.

Life surprises you. I can't complain. I wouldn't dare to.
[He smiles a little at that while his fingers keep doing the work on the keys.]
Though her likes are not far from my own. The traveling, the fishing, the guns... yes the guns... [He chuckles.] ...the ocean, the swimming, the TV... the o' so sacred TV with its History Channel and Military Channel and Discovery Channel and the temple that is the NFL season. [A chuckle.] The stubbornness... [He sighs and shakes his head.] She had to get that from me... Then there's the differences. Boyfriends, hair... appearance... [He shrugs at that.] Technology... I like technology, as long as it doesn't disrupt my classics. Digital music... [He makes a face at that, and chuckles again.] Digital books... I need to care for my eyes. I'm... [He stops playing momentarily, smiles, sighs and keeps playing.] ...not as young.
[accidental (?) voice]
[video] ((Sorry for the late reply. Tough month.))
Then he sighs, running a hand over his face.]
Next time I'll be the playboy bunny of the community with a rather private video feed...
[He gets up, reaches for the device and settles it on top of the piano. Then he sighs again, and squints his eyes trying to recognize the voice in the other hand.]
Haven't heard you before...
[He touches the monitor a few times and raises an eyebrow when he recognizes the frequency.]
What happened with your walls of text?
