What are other worlds' views, or your own personal view, on killing those that have already died, that have lost their soul, or that have no soul? Is it considered any different from killing those that are alive or have souls?

...And by 'killing' I do mean terminating their existence.

When I was younger, it was considered highly "wrong". I don't imagine that's changed much over the years on my world.

And could you explain what you mean by losing a soul or having none? Do you mean a person far past redemption, or simply someone who's died but their body continues to live? In the latter case, sometimes it can be for the best. There's no sense in keeping a person's body alive past their death date. It gives their loved ones false hope, and it's simply cruel.

Who's the moron laying down this kind of crap?

I don't think you should go and kill, or terminate souls that have already moved on! Let them find their own peace by themselves! I'm saying this especially since I'm dead, I don't want to disappear!

If they're not doing anything to hurt you or anyone else, then it's none of anyone else's business whether they're around or not.

I don't see why it should be any different from killing a living person with a soul. I mean, assuming they're self-aware. I've never really heard of something without a soul that was self-aware, but I suppose it's possible. 'Soul' is a slightly more concrete concept on my world than some.

I guess if they already died once, they can probably die a few times over without it bein' a big deal.

It should make no difference at all.

Of course, perhaps my own personal view would not account to much in a question like this, or so would certain people say.

How could you prove the existence or lack of a soul, exactly?

In my world, those who are undead are extremely dangerous, as they prey on the living. It's not considered wrong to destroy them, since they have already died.

I don't know about my world, but I would, yes.

[identity profile] glyph-witch.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Some are not. They are just shells of what they once were. The more powerful ones are aware, and those are the ones who become undead on purpose.

I suppose it depends on just how much less aware they are. If it's something like a zombie where basically all it does is walk around and attack people to eat their brains, then no, that isn't murder.

[identity profile] glyph-witch.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
As I said, they are already dead, and if it keeps them from preying on innocent people, then yes.

[identity profile] unluckychimera.livejournal.com 2011-12-07 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, zombies aren't even actually aware enough to avoid harm to themselves. You walk up to a zombie with a sword and it doesn't react any differently than if you walked up to it with an apple.
