What do you do if, your whole life you've believed this one thing and then one day... you find out it was all a lie? That person you've always been super proud of actually wasn't so great?

I don't know how I'm supposed to get over this.

It's a pretty big one. Huge, actually. I get why she did it, but it still sucks, you know? I wish she never told me.

If it's that bad and she told you, that probably means that she couldn't bear hiding it any longer. That or she felt you deserved to know. It doesn't make it much easier, but few people make great lies without a reason.

If your relationship with this woman was strong, or if you're willing to put in the effort, you should be able to pull things together in time.

Okay, trying to be all subtle about this is getting confusing. Basically, I found out something about my dad that kind of...changes everything I thought about him. I was thinking about joining the army after high school to follow in his footsteps, but I guess my mom didn't want me ending up...like him.
