[ Natsume's walking up a very old staircase in what looks like it could easily be some kind of haunted house. A girl with glasses, Sasada, is following him. ]

No matter how many times you deny it, I still believe that you have a special power! You may not like it, but I think it's wonderful. I think you should be proud of it!

[ At the top of the staircase, Natsume turns around and faces her. ]

By the way, where are Nishimura and Kitamoto?

Uhhh... they went home? [ It almost sounded innocent when she said it. Almost. ]

Went home?

[ Sasada closes her eyes, looking dismissive. ]

We can forget about the people who don't believe.

[ Natsume looks away when she opens them again, obviously uncomfortable. Another third voice surprises both of them into looking back down the staircase, where another girl, Taki, followed them in. ]

I see! This place does look like it would have ghosts.

You--!

Taki!

This looks interesting! I'll join you two.

Heh?

[ Taki runs up the stairs, grabs Sasada's arm, and quickly starts ushering her away. ]

Okay, Sasada-san, let's go look over there. You look over there, Natsume-kun.

[ Just before they're out of sight and through a door, Taki winks back at Natsume while Sasada objects the whole time, then the video cuts out. ]

I dunno, what's so creepy about being able to see that kinda stuff? It's better than not being aware of it, right?

If you started saying you could see things that no one else could or started talking to someone no one else could see, it's only natural people would think you're a liar or scary.

[ Right? Talking to Kyouko about this... at least he can just say it's just an example, since this video brought it up in the first place... ]

[ Well, she doesn't want to throw her magical girl thing secret that much up for grabs, but.. Natsume is someone she trusts, and she even told Haruhi on a whim, so.. ]

I don't know, I can see stuff nobody else usually does either. So I guess I'm a liar or scary then, huh?

[ He pauses for a moment. He's a little bit hesitant, but... things that no one else can see, he might.. she might be able to understand, right? ]

You can see spirits, demons, things like that?

Witches. Supernatural creatures, I guess, we just happen to call 'em that. Normal people can't see them, although they often get influenced by them and then killed. It's kinda like.. humans are prey, and the witches predators.

Witches..

[ If she can see things like that then... ]

I can see all kinds of things. Youkai, ayakashi, kami, ghosts.. I'd never even met another person who could see them until recently.

Hoh, so it's even more extensive than that..

[ she seems pretty casual about all of this, tbh, just humming as she thinks about it.. ]

Well, see? Neither of us is weird, we're just extra special!

[ He smiles. ]

I guess so. It's better if I keep it a secret though. I won't tell anyone about you, either.

Don't worry. I wasn't ready to shout over the community that that one Natsume guy is a big weirdo.

[ she means it as a joke, though, in case that isn't noticable just from her smile. ]

I know, I just...

[ He pauses. ] It's hard to try to keep everything balanced. People on the community are a lot more open to things than people in my world, but.. I don't want anyone to have to worry about me constantly.

[ Seeing them isn't the only thing that happens. ]

So you're sayin' they don't have to worry as long as they don't know?

[ ... ] Heh, I'll show ya some real danger, if you want to see a witch. Then you'll see I have no reason to worry about you, at least, since I've seen worse. [ NOT THAT SHE'D WORRY EITHER WAY, OKAY.. ]

When I come home covered in dirt or bruises, I'd rather have the people I'm living with think it was just because I'm busy playing around with friends and being a teenage boy than almost getting eaten. Not all spirits like human beings and.. Nyanko-sensei says I smell really good.

... Yeah, I know what it's like. Making up excuses and lies all the time so they won't find out, huh? [ For her family's sake, but.. she's past that now. She's all alone, so who does she have to make any excuses up for anymore? ] Seems like you've gotten yourself into a pretty unlucky fate somehow then, though.

And they're all different. All pretty creepy and dangerous though, so you'd have to be able to handle that much.

I guess I'm pretty lucky then... not all spirits are bad. Nyanko-sensei even acts as a bodyguard for me, even though he claims that it's just because he wants to eat me later so he can't let small fries get me...

That fat cat's going to eat you?

[ forever amused over the fat cat, okay. ]

He says anyway. I never agreed to that.

Hehe, ya better not let him eat you! [ not that she would miss him if something happened to him, o-okay..!! ] I mean, he'd only get even more fat!

Whenever he tries I just hit him in the nose, so it's no big deal. [ 8| Natsume's punch is powerful!! ]

You know, this cat doesn't sound like he's some really powerful cat-spirit-thing that wants to eat you if he can be defeated by hitting him in the nose.

[ ~~That's because they're friends and Natsume is a lot more powerful than he looks. 8|~~ ] I think it's probably because he doesn't actually mean to eat me.

[ ~~Natsume is bamf under that calm exterior.~~ ]

Well, if he ever does try, just call me and I'll give him a good beating. [ ... ] J.. just since I like beating stuff up, okay. [ clearly no other reason. ]
