Well, yes--all knights in my time had their own distinct reasoning and ideology for why they fought, but loyalty itself is often a vital part of it.
Some are loyal to their country, others loyal to the ones they fight alongside. In my own opinion, a knight that has not sworn loyalty to something is barely a knight at all.
